Firstly, I’m Japanese. I am not good at writing English, so please go easy on me of my English skill.
I’ve been playing War Thunder for a long time, and I’ve successfully dropped the nuclear bomb many times.
However, I’ve noticed something: at BR 11.0 and above, actually delivering the nuke feels practically impossible.
For example, in one recent match, I got 12 kills. The rest of my team combined only managed 14 kills, meaning I contributed nearly half of the team’s total kills.
Eventually, I earned the nuke and the spawnpoint reached the point where I could spawn the bomber.
Just two seconds after takeoff, an Su-30 launched four radar-guided missiles at me. I managed to evade all of them.
Then, only two seconds later, my RWR started screaming, and I was immediately shot down by a Pantsir. During that entire time, I was dumping chaff and flares as fast as possible, but they made no difference.
I don’t blame the player who stopped my nuke. They simply used the tools the game gave them.
What bothers me is this: when I checked their profile, I found that they weren’t even using an SPAA they had researched themselves—they were using one of the free SPAA vehicles provided by Gaijin.
Giving players free SPAAs is understandable. It probably helps reduce one-death leavers, and that’s a good thing.
But is it really fair that a player who contributed 0 kills, 1 assist, and 1 death can completely erase the efforts of someone who earned 12 kills, simply by firing a missile that the bomber has virtually no way to counter?
I’d like to suggest the following changes:
- Nuclear bombers should only be vulnerable to interception when they have some realistic means of defending themselves or countering the threat.
- Free SPAA vehicles should not be able to shoot down nuclear bombers.
I believe changes like these would make the nuclear mechanic much fairer.
What do you all think? I’d be interested to hear your opinions.
