Graphic Engine Overhaul/Switch to a new one

Hi i was wondering, war thunder engine got overhaul already once but don’t developers think that in a few years they would have to introduce new version of their game engine or go way of outsourcing it to another advanced engine?

The game looks great but it already for me touches the obsolete category in a few years, i mean so far great on movie setting but what about the future?

they probably just need to update their own dagor game engine. changing to a new engine would probably mean they have to recreate the entire codebase from scratch.

Changing over would be a logistical and programming nightmare, as they simply
cannot just copy/paste the coding into another engine. That and transferring “70 million”
accounts? . . . even if they trimmed the fat of dead accounts . . it would take years.

Besides Gaijin developed and built the Dagor engine so they own it . . . no cost
Just some upkeep . . smart business move.

In the time I have been here they have gone from Dagor 4.0 to 5.0,
and then 5.0 - 6.0 & now 6.5 (I really wish they had kept the clouds from 5.0!)

In the current state we will prolly need to wait until DX12 comes fully out of beta
and is stabilized and may as well see if Nvidia will take DLSS 4.5 to a full 5.0

The game looks great as you mentioned and is optimized for all sorts
of hardware. Allowing a LOT of players with different rigs to play it,
this is a good thing.

While there can be some lag/latency issues now & then, those are internet/connection
problems that Gaijin has no control over anyway. So until Hogwarts gets us all
a stable 10Gb connection speed and eliminates routing issues and internet
bottlenecking and such . . . we’ll just have to make do.

I am old, and the fact we can play live action games against other players from all
around the world as good as we do still amazes me.

Some day, things will advance so much, all this will look like drawing in the dirt with sticks.
I prolly won’t be around to see it, but many of you will.
I hope that you can enjoy and appreciate the things to come . . .
