Sadly for the state of your rhetoric, this isn’t CoD where we are trick shooting people around corners. I have played GHPC, indeed, it would my game of choice if it had PvP :P
Sadly for the state of your rhetoric, this isn’t battlefield where we are camping for 20 minutes just to be spawn camped or bombed by cas, just like muh IRL. I have played COD, indeed, it would my game of choice if it had tanks :P
Lmao. Alright, imagine coming here to cry about Larpers and people who just want a more immersive experience in a game centered around military simulation and doctrine. You’ve earned a block.
COPE, massive cope. Your just upset that your argument is not based on any reality and is only what YOU want and not anything that would be better for anyone but YOU. Many such cases on the forums these days.
There is a catch… SIM has smaller maps in rotation then RB. SIM for example does not have large Fulda or Mozdok.
And if ground sim worked like air sim, it’d be maybe approachable.
But half the time the nation/line-up I want to play is not even possible to be played.
In air, I can always take out my planes no matter what day it is. Worst case, I play a full uptier lobby.
Meanwhile the ground sim rn:
My 6.3 and 5.3 lineups are also not compatible apparently!
And my 6.0 germany isn’t applicable either. My 4.3 germany could do it, but I’m not feeling like 4.3 germany.
Meanwhile in air:
If I wanna fly f2h-2, I can! If I wanna fly P-51, I can! If I wanna fly F4U-4, I can! If I wanna fly A6M2, I can!
Currently with the rather limited map design, not a chance. Since some map designs are
1 spawn and massive chunks of space that no one is ever gonna go to. Since everyone is going to 1 place the single asymmetrical capture point.
Even on maps of 3 capture points are placed rather poorly, in places that make no sense.
Ex: Putting them straight down a deep town but don’t utilize them everywhere else. Oh wait that’s the Ardennes. The left and right places never get a capture point for some unknown reason. So Strategy not TACTICS(completely different) don’t get used.
l’m sorry, but what is the relation between SIM battle lineups and fact SIM has AB sized maps in rotation for top tier?
Which is extremely annoying since those maps are often 1200x1200m, and only factor which prevents me to 0 death leave is possibility to jump straight to the aircraft.
Another post from frustrated players on map sizes and the devs are silent. So much for the “roadmap” pretending to care what the player base wants.
On the other hand WOT exists if you want to keep your “call of duty” feel, the only people I see wanting smaller maps are from Reddit asking what the difference between heat fs and apfsds is.
Top tier is near dead with under half full matches because of this, there are plenty of small maps in the rotation that they can afford to add some large maps, if you don’t like the map just leave like we have to…
We called that this would be the case during the very onset of tanks when people complained to have the AI spawn protections removed. It started with AT guns that would nuke you if you went into the enemy spawn (thinking about it we even had AI tanks that would join the battles on some maps), then it went to a countdown to destroy you if you went into the enemy cap… now we just have the “your visible on the map”.
Gaijin is pushing for faster game times (take the 45 minute ARB timer being dumped to what is it, 25 minutes now?). They are tyring to make it WoT with a different damage model.
I’m adding why I play GRB rather than GSB.
For ARB over ASM, I play it because it pays good silver lions which lets me fly ASM or buy new stuff.
For GRB over GSM, it’s because I literally cannot play my desired tanks.
This is in addition to your complaint that GSM maps often are stuck back in older map eras for arcadey/early war lineups.
i do need to say this with the bigger maps they would first need to fix and heavy update SPAA for much longer lock-on/guided missiles the issue with the ones we have rn is that we cant really shoot anything outside of 25k away (unless your premium) and for lock on missiles they need to be less then 15k away for the lock to happen. another issue is helicopters cant be locked onto even if they are 13k away and the ir system is really wacky for guided missiles.
another thing bigger maps would mean they would need to have way more people play in them bigger maps like the one above with only 12-15 people in each will be dull and boring and will bring the issue with bot spam accounts due to nobody wanting to play them.
3rd thing is that they will need to do an overhaul with barrel sights and if sights for tanks to show up less staticky and much more clear and they would need to change what maps can be played for what br you are at. i dont think anyone would want to drive for 5 min going 25mph just to get 1 shot by a guy with a premium who has already fully flanked your whole team due to the fact they can go 40mph.
serval more but ill stop here.
Increasing map size in competitive (PvP) gameplay should not (imho) bring positive changes.
Moreover, it will result in negative effect, when you have to fly longer just to become someone’s frag.
In air, it very much brings positive changes:
- It spreads out the players, allowing for more 1vs1 and 2v2.
- It gives you more room for positioning, climbing and jockeying for aforementioned position and altitude.
- It reduces the snowball effect as a consequence of the first two and leads to more even, higher-struggle and engagement matches where you need to put in effort the entire time to win rather than turn into a mop-up operation after 5 minutes.
This is just a theory. The reality is the game being built around the grind, so the progress will slow down.
Also, if you are not good player, you will die equally fast in 1v1 or in “snowball”.
But you will fly longer on bigger map.
Not sure all players will be happy about it.
Bigger maps do nothing but increase the time spent getting to a match in ARB. They don’t add anything but some slightly higher altitudes, and more time flying to the battle. The current map sizes are good, we just need multiple spawn points, and more spread out objectives. I’d also make the max players in a match 24 instead of the 32 we have now.
It is also worse if you are in a slower plane than what you face (A6Ms, A-10s, Harriers, Su-25s, subsonics in supersonic matches, Me-163s, etc). With larger maps, you’re guaranteed to be late to the action and either end up in a 1v4+ or a snowball by your own team.
As for larger maps in GRB, I’m satisfied with the current map size selection. We just need better designed maps instead of what we have now. Caps should always be accessible from multiple sides, and flanking one shouldn’t force you into a single lane/map border (like Seversk, Normandy, or Finland). All maps should have multiple spawn points, and map borders should follow the terrain of the map while also not forcing the edge into a single lane. You also shouldn’t be able to spawncamp right away. Maps that do these well are Advance to the Rhine and Fulda.
Without snowballing, you get far better opportunities to practice and learn. There is not a lot of room for aforementioned practice if you constantly get 1vs5 or 1vsN games because your team died in 4-5 minutes because they all went into the same 8x8 km square.
Nor will you get a lot of room to learn and practice if you’re on the 5vs1 or Nvs1 side unless your opponent is some crazy good pilot who can actually realistically win in such a circumstance.
It depends on the map for ARB.
Some are actually decently sized yeah! But the airfields/objectives make them much smaller than they are in reality. For the decently sized maps, all we need is like 3-4 airfields to split players in 3-4 x 4-3 with objectives spread around.
There’s some that are genuinely oppressively small though like Mozdok or some of the frontline/event maps where you can easily hit the map edge. I can’t remember which it was, maybe Uranus? It felt very egregious in the F84B given its enormous turn radius if you want to maintain speed. I honestly started taking the crew lock whenever I get mozdok as I feel I cannot really do anything on that map without getting into AAA range, or my enemy getting into AAA range.
Bring back those AI nukers this swarming of spawn is just stupid and boring even if mostly my team is one thats swarming but Im not able to research vehicles like that and I wanna learn maps and like this I learn nothing… Also soon as we swarm spqwn other team just quit so it aint like we farm kills… Just straight bullshit…like how is this not adresses by these devs???
Also I dont get why isnt there like big map full of AI, air deffence, bases, camps etc and then mix players with AI and try to advance and take those positions…when you start taking it you will have to survive few AI waves mixed with real players and then get rewards depending on your role in team…that would be nice…
