I would have really liked the F16AJ to get the 13.3 treatment and get AAM-4s or AIM-120s
Yes, I KNOW this is not a “real aircraft” but at 12.7 it just feels silly in todays match maker.
2 AIM-7Fs and 4 AIM-9Ls to put it plain and simple is not enough for 13.0-13.7 match maker.
I don’t think you would like that as much as you think you would, instead of shredding the 11.7 to 12.7 premiums, you would be food for Rafs/EFs It’s far better being where it is IMO and if you want an F-16 with ARHs we have the OCU (not to mention the F-2s that are basically super F-16s), why ruin the F-16AJ to turn it into a plane we already have?

I would rather have a jet that is decent no matter what match maker its in, instead of a jet that is ONLY good in the very rare 11.7 downtier.
I agree 100% with this statement but…
The AJ is very good at its BR, and can hold it’s own up to 13.3, I admit a 13.7 up tier is brutal, however, do you really think it will do better in a 14.3 up tier? And again Japan has the F-2A and the F-16 OCU at 13.7 already
Thing is in its current form its broken.
Id sooner wait and hope gaijin fix the sparrows/ upgrade radar than make another 13.3 DOA 16
The chances of me saying il get footage of sparrow going funky amd within 30 mins of game time its there are very slim if i couldnt predict what would happen…
I played f18a after and sparrows were great.
I could play for months with the f18 and wouldnt see the nonsense i am with the AJ.

It doesn’t. Its radar is absolutely fine. The two clips you sent has one actively notching and the other is just very cluttered. All Sparrows (Minus 7Ps, maybe 7Ms) struggle holding a single lock.
AIM-7-P has data link, so you can tell it to go after a different target after launch. I Also have issues with AIM-7-F/Ms just flying off into space. so I was curious if it was the data link or radar that was stopping it on the F/A-18… I don’t have anything with AIM-7-Ps or any F/A-18s so I cant test it.

The missile goes 90degrees tracking someone across the map. It doesnt even go for clutter
And this isnt a one off. Its most missiles are doing what they like. Only while using the AJ… that iv experienced anyway.
Its pointing at radar.

F14a- cant remember which sparrows. No funk
F18a no funk
Only vics i use regular. Rest use dog fight sparrows which again dont do this.

I coukd play other vics all night and not have this happen. Yet under 30 mins of game time- missiles doing thier usual AJ tings
I’m dusting of my AJ now and taking it for a spin, first game sparrow was notched and chaffed… but he was so busy chaffing he didn’t consider the 2nd missile might be and AIM-9L not a sparrow!

These all have better radars and better missiles. This still doesn’t make the AJ radar bad. You are flying into a group of 5~ enemies and expecting perfect guidance.
Either way, you can’t just give a vehicle an ahistorical better radar because you don’t know how to use an early PD radar with Sparrows. The F/A-18A has a better radar AND better missiles, the F-14A has one of the strongest radar in game AND better missiles, the F-16A MLU has a better radar AND better missiles. You saw my clip, I kept guidance in a head-on while turning away quite sharp.
So the radar isnt fit for purpose then.
If iv played 7 months with various sparrow slingers and only have an issue now i dont know what other explanation there is

Adding Thailand’s MLU format to Japan can achieve a radar upgrade
Thailand has multiple F-16s that can fill the spot. The F-16A OCU could, as it realistically never used AIM-120s or Python 3s (iirc only F-16B OCU did). It would have 7Ms and 9Ms, which would make it 13.0 at lowest. The only vehicle that can fill the 12.7 gap would have to be the XF-2A (E) with 7Ms and 9Ls.
