I still want to call it a spoiler :)
Yes, there are two separate bug reports for the removability (one for the slat and one for the tea table) that have been accepted. As @Smin1080p_WT posted they already have the model without the slat, I’m hoping the reason it hasn’t been updated yet is because they are altering the model to also include the IED jammer as a removable module. ie; install/uninstall “TES” as a whole rather than just the addon armor.
The truth is that in this video it can be seen that it has quite good mobility despite the weight, and above all it can be seen that after braking the suspension recovers quickly so that the barrel is not swaying for very long.
To some degree it’s all modular based on threats in the area Scimitars are operating.
The slat armor/bar armour is to counter RPG warheads, while the “spoiler” is Counter-IED. You can run one without the other.
The box-shaped emitters mounted on the front among the slat armour are also for C-IED, so it’s somewhat unusual to remove them without also removing the stuff on the “spoiler”. But they operate on different principles, against different IED triggers. So again are modular.
The box on the back of the turret mostly contains a cooling system for the crew which is why there’s a pipe running out of it that routes through where one of the commander’s prism/vision-blocks is removed (the prisms just slot in/out for replacement). But it also cools the electronics units for the CIED system.
So in theatres where there’s no need for IED jamming, and no need for cooling, it can be removed along with the spoiler.
Deployed in Estonia, British Army’s Mk.2s just had the regular Scimitar OTIS stowage bin on the back of the turret. OTIS (Observer’s Thermal Imaging System) is no longer in use but the bin that was added to store it in the 1980s, remains useful for general storage.
IMO, vehicles in war thunder don’t face IED threats so all of the C-IED equipment has no place in the game other than conforming to historical appearance of the vehicle. I’d be fine with seeing all the C-IED stuff removed from Scimitar, Challenger 2 etc.
The bar armour on the turret does fit around the regular OTIS bin. Before the EM235 upgrade where the cooling system and “spoiler” were integrated into Scimitar along with the 235hp drivetrain, the C-IED antennas were more rudimentarily mounted on the back of the bar armour, and the vehicles still had OTIS bins on the back of the turret.

AFAIK the way the bar armour is mounted, and its overall shape is unchanged on the turret between Scimitar and Scimitar Mk.2, and only differs on the hulls.
Spartan (EM235) hull bar armour without the cutouts for the CIED emitter boxes looks like this
So the Mk.2 could be configured without the C-IED kit and cooling system, while still retaining provisions for bar armour.
The simplest solution would be to make the bar armor and CIEDs an unlockable module, allowing the Scimitar Mk2 to be used without them if desired. Personally, I prefer the Scimitar Mk2 with everything, but I have no problem with it being an unlockable module so that anyone who wants to can remove it.
This is how it should be, similar to the American Striker, where the base vehicle has no SLAT and you later unlock it. However, again with the idea I posted some time ago, it would allow players to just modularly choose what they want. SLAT without CIED for example could be possible, or even the reverse; CIED without SLAT. Point is that, it would be a lot of work but I certainly think Gaijin should implement that idea, specially for situations like this.
In infantry the mode it would be cool if there was IEDs you could place on the ground
removable slat armour when gaijin?

Gaijin: Its decided 8.7
Dont get me wrong. its in a better state than scimitar mk1 was in on its release.
however the fake FCS and useless slat armour holds it back a lot.
even once FCS isnt a concern and we can remove the slat its still inferior to scimitar mk1 other than for sniping, that dart is great.
should be 8.0

Pizza saver. :D
Well, this was something for a first game. Got enough SP for a nuke only in the Scimitar Mk 2, but got shot down on the way, later on someone else on my team dropped another nuke.
i have also dropped a nuke. but i could have done it in that match in the tetrach…
this thing is pretty damn useless 90% of the time, a mid 8.0

Yep, I didn’t really get the feeling that it was great, but it was also my first game, and I were entirely stock, so i can’t say what its performance it will have spaded. I do enjoy using the RARDEN on the Warrior, so I have an idea on how to generally play it.
In regards to how slow it is (and generally on how much some things on the ground slow down vehicles), on the north side of Sun City I was playing, there was a field of tomatoes, every tomato plant i drove into made it come to a near full stop.
- Scimitar Mk 2
- Tomato Plant
Tomato tastes better but Scimitar is better looking (im promise im not an Adeptus Mechanicus)
Not exactly a fair fight…
That tomato plant looks to be in a rather healthy state, look at the size of those Tomatos.
Find a dying Tomato plant, at least make it a fair fight
I put a bug report in over a week ago now and still no reply or anything from the bug mods, sigh.
Expect the Scimi 2 7th gear crashing the speed to stick around.
Fun fact though, if you go downhill enough to get the rpm up to 1900-2000 and over, you will happily keep driving around at 70kmh plus…
gaijin doesnt model torque very well at all. In reality the Scimit 2 shouldnt really bog down in 7th on relatively flat ground at all
