For many years, I’ve desired the addition of a Switzerland tree, considering their large amounts of vehicles created and experimented on during the cold war. Many players have also desired this addition, and some even created ‘fan-made’ tech trees to educated players on some possible vehicles that can be added. One such tree can be found on this website,
However, the Swiss FFA P-16 was recently added to Warthunder last year… in the German techtree. This, alongside the Swiss squadron Hunter, and the possible Swiss F-18 have seem to cemented the fact that Switzerland will most likely never receive their own tree.
My personal opinion is that the Swiss should have their own separate tree, since they have many original vehicle designs, and would arguably bring more variety as opposed to other minor nations, that primarily have copy-paste inclusions, such as China and Israel. Minor nations such as Italy, France, and Sweden have received their own sub-trees that introduced only a handful of ‘unique’ designs, with the rest being copy-paste.
I do have a little bit of hope though, since the additions of the Merkavas in the US tree didn’t stop from creation of the Israeli tree, so there might be a chance for a Swiss tree to come to existence (in the next decade or so…).
The issue is they don’t have enough vehicles, and this would remove a sub tree option for Germany/France [Obviously France got Benelux instead of Swiss/Austria/other options].
You’re kind of right. Compared to other trees, the Swiss would be considerably smaller. And every time a new nation is added, they start off small before actually getting some thickness to it. For instance,
I was going to mention the French tree being small at it’s launch, at 30 something vehicles, but the Israeli tree was crumbs to that. Gaijin understood that Israeli had very little vehicles that could fit in earlier ranks, so the decision to omit those ranks occurred.
The Swiss tree would be comparable to the French tree’s amount of launch, and in all honestly, Germany as a nation doesn’t necessarily need a sub-tree due to it’s size. They have a pseudo Argentinian sub tree already, with the 3 TAM tanks and Sk105.
The thing is we knew exactly what could be added to Israel to bulk it and it went from as copy-paste as China to as unique as France just from the Magach additions.
Israel also doesn’t lack much of anything for rank 1 - 3, Gaijin just didn’t add them.
Switzerland should 100% have it’s own tree, but I do think that Austria should be implemented alongside them.
Also, everyone uses China low tier and Israel as examples of poorly implemented tech trees when in reality they are simply very poor representations of the full scope of indigenous vehicles and modifications that could be added.
Agreed, China’s early ranks make sense, but I think China can have one of the largest high tier trees. The amount of IFVS, SPAAG, and other cool vehicles that haven’t been added yet is just sad.
As much as I love the idea of a Swiss tree (for obvious reasons), I don’t think it warrants to stand on its own, and including it as subtree to Germany makes more sense in my opinion.
Germany has no need for a sub tree though. The only place where they could use some help is in top-tier air, and adding an entire sub tree just for a single F/A-18C which can’t carry A2G ordanance is quite frankly retarded, especially now that thet have started adding the EFs.
It’s the same boat that South Korea sits in. If it was to be added as a sub tree then the US would be the most logical place for them to go, but they don’t need a sub tree.
Germany has the same possible additions amount as france and uk.
Germany compares better to them possibiliy wise then ussr, china, us.
Since france and uk got multiple nations as sub trees germany should be treated similar and receive sth if its only for a bit of diversity and to enrich the now pretty much dead high/top tier sir tree which has nearly no options left.
Uk and france should not get entitled treatment for whatever reason over other nations.
I mean if you would prefer germany to get another country as sub tree like turkey, spain, greece, poland only a single one of those of course . I wouldnt complain since they all would help out in areas.
The only nations which shouldnt be considered would be is austria, it doesnt realy have anything.
At the end of the day switzerland is the most sensible choice as a sub tree for germany
Would you support giving every TT an eurofighter then? A bit of variety is always good regardless of how stupid of a decission it is right? You already have both western and eastern vehicles, don’t go play the “muh variety” card when you would hate it if it went the other way around.
Germany are the entitles ones here. You’re trying to take an entire nation as a sub tree for one (1, a single) vehicle because your top tier air is lacking even though the rest of your TT is bloated to the brim with vehicles.
What areas? The only place you lack vehicles is top tier air, and there’s still hundreds of unique domestic German vehicles left to add throughout the rest of the TT. I never see any minor nations complaining that they have their one cool domestic aircraft at top tier, yet German mains are so used to beeing spoonfed as one of the “big 3” that they just can’t fathom being treated the same as everyone else.
If the nation gets a subtree who uses a eueofighter of course.

Of course trees “need” fleshing out where they have gaps or shortcomings, but I think it would be wrong to base a decision whether to add a vehicle or another solely on “need”. Many vehicles get added all the time that are not needed at all, yet still are an enrichment to the game.
And having 98% copy-paste vehicles like those tons of F-16’s, F-4’s, Gripens, … everywhere is already the case, so adding some unique variants of “regular” vehicles like the already added Hunter Mk.58 I find positive. Another interesting example could be the Mirage IIIS with completely different avionics and armament, and for later upgrades even aerodynamics.
They made an amazing tank, so of course it’s bound to end up in multiple trees. I would of course prefer that they didn’t add the Dutch and Finnish ones though. C&P is bad, and adding Switzerland to Germany for these few gap fillers would only result in more of it.
I never claimed they don’t have an industry, in fact they could both be just as bloated as Germany and I didn’t want them to get sub trees because of it. This entire mindset of “something bad happened in the past so it’s okay and even good that it keeps happening” is what bothers me.
Gajin specialy stated they gonna focus on this more for now. So why should germany get left out? I am not saying germany should get it before japan and israel.
But france certainly didnt need 2 sjb trees at once and certainly uk didnt need its second sub tree with india now.
You just denying sth to germany for the heck of it, when gajin made it clear its the path they wanna go. Not to mention how its hard it is to grind trough trees to begin with.
All that for another leopard top tier tree is just boring and bad. Top tier is the main money maker and sweden does just kot have a solid appealkng top tier where people definitly would go for. It being a sub tree just makes more sense
I don’t hold any influence over Gaijin so my opinion is worthless, just like everyone else in this thread. And I’m sorry for standing by my beliefs and not rolling over I guess. However there are major gaps in the ground tree that can be filled, interesting mew vehicles can be added and the air tree an stop being a russia america wannabe at 9.0-11.0
