South Africa = Ally during World War II, closely related to defense weapons
Finland = Decades of military cooperation
Hungary = Ally during World War II
Other subtrees may have this ‘excuse’, but in the case of Switzerland, there is no connection with Germany. Adding Switzerland to Germany is as absurd as adding a Korean vehicle to a Japanese TT or an Arab vehicle to an Israeli TT.
Yes, and all three are gameplay wise good ideas. Like the only reason not to add a country to a given tech tree is PR and to not get excessively DOSed. Generally id love if they moved away from a tech tree being linked to a nation and instead go the route Armored Warfare of having dealers or something similar.
Tho i see why they won’t
Edit: like Sweden being turned i to the “Nordic block tech tree”
I don’t know what this topic is about because swiss vehicles weren’t confirmed to go to Germany. It was even said that the hunter will be the only vehicle and there are no other vehicles planned
Dutch vehicles would make more sense at the moment due to the cooperation between the ground forces of their countries
Add Swiss vehicles to the russian tech tree, because Switzerland <3 Russia.
germany doesn’t even need a subtree
Absolutely. Switzerland should be on its own, or in a combined Alpine tree with Austria (which would only provide one main branch tbh).
Absolutely zero point their vehicles going to Germany. I could perhaps see a French sub-tree, but there are too many vehicles that wouldn’t be added in that scenario so I’m against it.
I’m not interested in the politics. Most of Switzerland prop aircraft were 109s, which wouldn’t need to be put in the tree since we have the german ones, yet the other vehicles used by the swiss would help fill out the cold war era where Germany needs the help. I’m also only really interested in the swiss air subtree. Idk if Germany needs thier ground vehicles and maybe those would be better in the French tree. If you want a standalone tree for the swiss thats fine but they shouldn’t have an entire ww2 era that’s just copy pasted from the german tree, which is what would likely happen.
This is because opinions that ‘Swiss vehicles should be added to the German TT’ continue to be posted on forums and other communities. I wrote this article to refute that.
Me 109=115
Doflug D-3800 series=303
Mustang series=131
Why does Germany need the Panzer 58/61/68 when they have numerous Leopard variants?
Why does Germany need the Panzer 87 (2A4 clone, mostly)? Or the Panzer 87-140 variants, when Germany could get the KWS-III? Or the indigenous Swiss upgrades to their 2A4s, when they have their own upgrades to the 2A4?
Why does Germany need the MOWAG Tornado IFV variants when they have the Marder 1s?
Why does Germany need the Panzer 68 ET when they have the M48 Super?
Germany does not need them.
They don’t. Thats why I said the ground vehicles might be better fit for the French tree. The air would fill a lot of the gaps Germany needs filled in its tree. There are other options such as a Dutch subtree for air, but swiss still fits imo.
Germany has many gaps in the jet age and only italy and japan have less there.
That’s why the hunter was added in the first place
People talking about it changes nothing. This post changes nothing aswell. Only gaijin decides that.
They add subtrees which fills the most holes in the tree. Hungary has less in common with italy aswell but they fill holes in their tree. If they decide swiss vehicles fill holes in the german subtree then you can’t change that either way.
Making a post because some people have a different opinion on a nation which isn’t ingame is laughable tbh. Nothing is confirmed afterall. There are no hints which could even indicated a swiss subtree.
I don’t care who they get added to so long as the Panzer 58,61 and 68 are in game as those are the only remotely interesting swiss vehicles outside of some of the Mowag series
I’m glad all vehicles are assumed perfect, cause Panzer 68 would be the worst tank to use otherwise.
They’ve just given a Squadron T-90 to Britain because India is a former British colony…
Worrying about justifications is looking at the finger rather than the moon. They needed a squadron MBT for Britain. That design was available and fit the gameplay. They would have said anything that sounded superficially ok so long as it justified the balance decision.
And enemies during the Cold War.
Or, say, as absurd as having DDR and BRD vehicles in the same lineup when they were literally designed to kill each other? Or having Taiwan and China share a tree? Both way more egregious examples than Switzerland going to any of the current tech trees.
“We have decided to add Switzerland to Japan because they both have good-looking snowy mountains”. :D
Yes. Both nations and tech trees should stay, it’s just that they shouldn’t be synonymous with one another.
A bunch of Dutch players were quite angry about this suggestion in the previous rumour roundup thread.
In any case, I don’t think ballooning the number of trees is going to be ok with the matchmaker. Eventually, reform will be needed. For that reason alone I think subtrees are extremely more likely.
East Germany and West Germany were previously Nazi Germany and were divided into two, and the same is true for the PRC and ROC. But Switzerland and Germany have never been the same country, and it’s not like the British T-90 which can at least make an excuse.
Mate - i have zero clue why you open a very old topic (again).
I read your OP and the following discussion, but this thread is just a repetition of this thread:
After reading the 287 posts in this thread you might see why your arguments have 2 essential flaws:
- Gaijin simply don’t care about any relations - they decide vehicle allocations based on business projections like in this case.
- You might re-evaluate your pov regarding Switzerland and Germany if you read the old thread. It is simply a fact that the German part of Switzerland dominates the Swiss society, science and (most important) economy for ages. Denying the Swiss roots is the same as German bashing by fellow US citizens - depending on which source you choose up to 40% of US citizens have German ancestors…
All in all - the discussion is far from being suited to convince gaijin to change their mind (it won’t happen) and far less accurate and informative (i am neutral) than the old thread.
Nvm i am following this thread if you present new arguments. Have a good one!
Jep, that sums it up. I’d like them in the french tree more.
You wrote this divide and conquer piece either because you are misinformed or to spread your segregationist views
…which would automatically end up in the German tree
