plus i kinda want practice with cas
in fact i find mig21 to be one of the best planes for air rb
Which germany doesnt have as premium
Fair enoguh i suppose? But Su22 isnt that good CAS either. F-4F late will do you better
Its certainly better than what it was few years ago when F-16 released (i unlcoked it back then, played two games and put it to ice for two years).
Probably is still viable as premium, even if hornet just outclasses it
f4f with mavericks? one of the worse fire and forget missiles arguably
pretty sure you only get 2 also
Its much better platform and it has better RWR.
Mavs also IIRC have better zoom than Kh29s which means faster target accquisition but its been a while since i compared them
Su22 can also take only two FnF missiles.
Sure you can run laser guided as well and presume the airspace wont be contested but thats hardly ever the case. Starting 10.7 or even lower, CAS is all about FnF munitions (with some exceptions like low pass with Su25 and those bug S-250s).
You wont have all the leisure time in world to dump all your payload of non-fnf munitions if theres a SPAA present
German close air support options are very lacking in my opinion, specially when it comes to Premium vehicles, the JaboG 41 Alpha Jet E is in my opinion decent for its battle rating and one of the few examples of actually good close air support vehicles in the german tech tree. As for the Su-22M4 WTD61 is, in my opinion mid to good, nothing too much crazy except for the Kh-29T which are TV-guided missiles much better than the Syrian Su-22M3 with Kh-29L (it has terrible laser guiding angles so you’ll be in a awkward position if decide to shoot these and guide the whole time).
But if you really want it I suggest watching some videos of both vehicles or obtaining the Su-22M3, I have no doubt that Su-22M4 WTD61 will return in form of Golden Eagles which is to be expected, it’s not entirely removed out of the game, just wait and get it in a sale; using the american A-6E TRAM, the german Su-22M4 WTD61 is suppose to cost around the 9,000 Golden Eagles range up to 10,000 or a bit more. Given that the only really good thing in the Su-22M4 WTD61 is the Kh-29T TV-guided missiles, for around 10,000 Golden Eagles is in my opinion a robbery, just wait till sale and/or get something better like the russian Su-39 that actually has more variety of air-to-ground weapons if you want to, is my personal favorite but it’s rather tricky to use.
so what if mav hits something if it cant do any damage? and also im pretty sure kh29 can solid lock from further
what good is su39 for german tech tree?
personal preference but alphajet which i already own is more difficult to do cas with
The russian Su-39 is in the Soviet tech tree, there are no relatives in the german tech tree, is just a suggestion, but if you want specifically german Premium close air support airplane, then the Su-22M4 WTD61 is the best option since it has guided weaponry. Your other option would be the swiss F/A-18C with the AGM-65G (which are IR-guided) but behaves the same as the AGM-65B (which are TV-guided) found in tech tree airplanes like F-4F Phantom II.
and thats why im mad that they decided yeah lets remove this su22
The HEAT mavs carry enough explosive to one shot light vehicles and arent half bad against armor found at F-4F late BR.
Sure, some tabks can tank them if they hit turret face but ive been hit by martels (or whatever thr missiles late bucc carries) staight to the T-80UD roof and all they did was caving my skull in but otherwise i was still perfectly combat capable
So HE warhead isnt guarantee.
Im not at PC so i cant look at missile data sheet but unless you outrange the SPAAs lock range doesnt really matter. What you want is optical zoom (provided you dont have thermals on either missile or pod) to find the vehicles quicker.
You will still need to close the gap between your spawn and the battlefield a bit before you start your attack.
Also F-4F has much higher chance to survive thanks to better FM and better RWR allowing for better defense against SACLOS SPAA.
thats like saying f4f is better than the early su25 which i doubt it is
granted su25 has tanky airframe if it gets hit compared to anything else
sorry if im wrong but like in my opinion it is
FM wise phantom will eat Su25 alive and gameplay wise phantom can dump its mavs, defeat any possible SACLOS missile launched its way and go hunt Su25 while Su25 will still be making its approach to the AO.
Yes it’s better, though very limited air-to-ground capability you don’t have to put yourself in direct visual contact with the target while using TV-guided missiles, Su-25 and Su-25K might be tanky but their visual angles are very limited, same case with the Su-22M3 that are restricted to laser-guided ordinances, although you can avoid such tactic by previously pointing the laser, launching and disengage the laser point and let the missile go to wherever you designated early, like a guided rocket if you will.
WRONG. Because there is new premium hornet devs want you to buy.
no, hes right, both flares and chaff are contained within the BOZ, Tornado IDS has no internal flares.
Though hes wrong about them being ineffective, between being large, double drop and the decent spread. I find them quite effective for dealing with IR threats. Though would be nice if they single dropped. 28 patterns does require some care to avoid burning through them all.
The infinite chaff is nice however.
ADVs (F3, F3 Late and ADV in the Italian Tree) have a limited number of “internal” CMs. (2x AN/ALE-40, same as found on a lot of other aircraft in-game but with the large calibre CMs installed instead of having 60 standard)
But mostly rely on BOL (though do actually maintain the hardpoints used for the BOZ pods, though no BOZ pods were ever equipped it did run a Phimat and TRD (which used the BOZ pod housing) on those pylons). Phimat can be equipped in a few different configurations though.
But all IDS rely on external CM pods, such as BOZ, TERMA or BOL for any CMs (which is rather nice actually, because that way they get chaff stock)
