German ground toptier

I just started playing with the german ground top tier and im having fun. It took little bit of time to adjust, but the Leos are very good. One thing I dont understand tho, is the turret basket. The Abrams has it aswell, and unless im mistaken, it should provide extra protection for the crew and turret ring, but it does exact opposite. Why?
Leopard tanks got recently nerfed pretty hard, and even though the deppresion nerf wasnt that painful, the turret basket is making my turret stuck everytime I get hit.
We could argue that the Leo2A7V is maybe the best tank in the game, and for some, it may be too strong, especially when its not russian. Though the Leos 2A5, 6, PL and PSO definitely didnt need this massive nerf.
What do you think, will Gaijin someday embrace the western superiority or they just keep artificially nerfing NATO?

it shouldn’t do much of anything but for some reason the turret floor acts as some critical component for the horizontal drive

Realistically, the addition of extra modules were a ‘nerf’ to everyone who recieved said modules. Fact is Gaijin adding vehicles like the Leopard 2A7V when none of the other two nations part of the Big three in War Thunder get a vehicle similar is proof that Western main battle tanks is superior, specially Germans’ compared to everything else.

yeah its piece of metal, so I dont expect to stop sabot, but it definitely shouldnt spall more when reportedly manual for the Leopard tank states that it reduces spalling.

I partially agree, but when we look at the autoloader model that is present in some MBT, we can see that it provides unrealistic protection to the ammunition itself. It happened to me many times that autoloader module was hit but the ammo stayed intact. So we cannot really say that new modules hurt Russian tanks same as some western ones.
The second part I dont really get. Swedes got new STRV that is also very good. T-90M has amazing protection as well. I agree though that Abrams should have better protection and Chally and Merkava probably as well, but that rather says that Western tanks are still underpowered compared to real life.

if the turret basket is damage the tank turret still moves. however the crew will just face different direction i am very sure.

Honestly I dont think so, because I had hits going through my hull into the engine and my turret ring got disabled, and I dont think that the round hit the tiny turrer ring on its way.

if it hit your turret ring, then the turret can’t turn…

Yes, thats why I said that I dont think the shot hit my turret ring, and I think that my turret ring was disabled because the big basket got hit. Little bit of missunderstanding

Do you know what spalling is?

And ya the 2a7 and 122 are the best tanks in game there is no arguement they just got slapped at 12.0 because that is the max br currently. All the other german 12.0 tanks still blow most everything else out of the water.

And the autoloader doesnt protect the ammo it literally is the ammo rack.

If gaijin didnt want to give everyone a top tier tank you wouldn’t be seeing anything but leos and maybe some abrams there. But ariete leclercs, merkava, chinese, and t series get mashed into 12.0 so people feel good, or if you want real russian bias/propaganda its gaijin stating in game via the BR system things like the t80/90 and now for some ungodly reason a t72 is on the same level as a 2a7/6/5.

The turret ring and the floor of the basket both can disable turret rotation, this was done to reduce the “empty space” on the bottom of the Abrams and leopard when shot from the side.

Nah, Gaijin is run by nationalistic russians. They try to hide that fact, but just can´t. Like, they say they ain´t a russian company, yet they still have buildings in russia, main development is in pro-russian hungary and the HQ is officially in Cypres. Like every russian company does to avoid taxes.

Combine that with the constant OP treadment of russian vehicles (like, Yak-9T, IS-7, 2S38, Object 279, Su-25, Pantsir-S1, Ka-50, KH-38 BombMisselSomething and now freshly added to the "Russian Bias Confirmation List, the Sovetsky Soyuz).
And that gaijin is practicly run like the soviet union of Game Publishers.

It gets very obviouse, there will be no change.
This game is made by russians for russians to keep themselfs in the illusion that there land is the greates thing in excistence.

The problem is, that reportedly thats not the case, because the basket isnt connected to the turret ring. thats why lot of people were complaining about that.

No one else in the big 3 or sweden has multiple examples of undertiered overperforming vehicles, just russia.

F14 didn’t practically get its own trailer and fox 3 exclusivity for over a year? All the other undertiered and busted US planes. That was all just a dream.

Mig 23/29 fm wasnt nerfed to dust and they just ignored all the bug reports. R73 was added when it was supposed to be and wasn’t removed from the update after people whined.

The only difference is there isn’t a large group of rabid anti US or anti German etc. crazies on here letting whatever percieved bias live rent free in their head 24/7 making lists.

The turret basket should reduce spall according to the manual of Leo tanks.
The autoloader module does protect the ammo IN GAME. I know it doesnt IRL, but it WT, it unfortunately does. As I said, I experienced it many times and im not alone.
And with the third paragraph I dont agree. Leos are good, they are very good, but recently I played a bit with the russians, and T80’s and even T72B3 are also very capable. Sure, you dont have good reverse speed and depression, but you have good frontal protection that allows you to rush and peek around the corners. You still can get killed, but it is definitely easier to be aggresive in Russian tank.
And lastly, I dont mind that this or that tank isnt good enough/is too good. I have a issue with unrealistic nerfs that simply apply to only some vehicles.

I know, it’s a gameplay thing that aimed to adress the simplicity of Damage Models where a sideshot that would normally always be crippling on a real tank ended up better off in the game.

Similarly a number of top tier tanks have a one-shot mechanic in fuel explosions that is complete nonsense, but aims to nerf fuel tanks blackholes.

I agree, I see it quite similarly. The biggest issue isnt the strenght of the vehicles itself, is the unrealistic depiction of them

You are just praying the guy you rush takes a bad shot, and in the case hes not paying attention and you kill him you are now stuck out in the open for anyone else to kill you. You shouldn’t be rushing around corners to shoot someone that knows you are there in any tank, and the cases where its to kill somone not looking you are better off doing so in a tank with reverse so you can get out of there asap and back into cover.

And for t series its incredibly rare for the auto loader to get hit and not send the turret to space. About as rare as when i shoot forward leo ammo rack and only turn it orange. Ya its frustrating and you remember that 1 time more than the 50 times it doesn’t happen.

I brought up spall because you mentioned you were shot in the engine and lost your ring.

Could we private message on this topic? Because I feel like there are lot of things regarding “bias” and I would like to debate on it with somebody who has different opinion.

Yeah I agree with this. IRL the mdoern ammo is so strong it always breaks something etc. and shooting side of the tank just for nothing to happen was odd. I just dont think its good to reverse the irl effect of the modules. This basket should protect, in game it cripples. Russian autoloader module should cripple, it actually protects the ammo quite often.
