"General Walker" M48A1

During the Berlin crisis in 1961, several m48a1s were sent to checkpoint Charlie in response to the USSR beginning construction of the Berlin Wall. In response, the USSR sent several tanks of their own. One of the m48a1 tanks sent to the Berlin wall was labeled as “General Walker” with the tank number “32” . I could find no information on the tank or the crew, but I found several photos of the tank in different spots and angles. The most identifiable marking on the tank is the number “32” seen on both sides of the turret.

Please note that the term “General Walker” is most likely not in reference to the tank commander, but is likely instead just a nickname given to the tank.

Would you like this as a skin for the m48a1?

It was. But I promise you that tank never looked that ratty IRL. It would have had a gloss dark OD green paint and would have been parade dress right dress. My googlefu is weak today so I couldn’t find a really good pic of the “Berlin Brigade” but here are a few.

Oh yea that first image is a model kit, and they tend to look like that due to how they get painted and how gloss looks really weird on them

The “toy look” I guess.

yeah pretty much, but my m48a3 model looks glossy because of how much paint it has so there’s that

M48A3 model

was my first successful model that I painted

Also its covered in tiny leaves now (fake ones for modeling not real ones)
