The seeker gimbal rate has been lowered by close to 3x. You quite literally cannot launch the missile while turning or else the missiles itself simply cannot track the target quickly enough.
Huh, must have missed that one. Doesn’t change anything about its flare resistance though.
It most definitely does, as it makes it far harder to acquire a target after shutoff… Let alone track a target that’s simply turning.
Non really it deoends if they add an early or late block. Later block 9x are very much equals
The only fox-2s that could be added to American Jets at the moment, while still being within the capability of other Fox-2s are upgraded variants of the AIM-9M like the M-8 or M-9.
Alternatively, if the States really need something that badly, you could suggest the AIM-9R
AIM-95 exists.
Same seeker type as all other gate width missiles in-game and TVC close range performance.
The biggest problem with Aim-9M that they still havent fixed and it was reported 2 years ago is this:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/PX7CKrwWNGdr
If they fixed the 9M lock ranges. it would be a LOOOOT better than it is right now. Aim-9M should be the superior missile when used from further away, but can never lock at ranges where it would actually be felt
Correct me if Im wrong. But Block 2 is a 2008+ upgrade right?
But ASRAAM entered service in 1998, IRIS-T 2003 and Im not sure about the rest. So strictly speaking Block 1 would be the “same age” as the other missiles. Though even then. Block 2 is still playing catch-up and is quite a bit behind the others within their niches
I didn’t know the AIM-95 had irccm, given it was the early 1970s or so when it was developed. Though the AIM-9R may not be an aim-9x, its still a worthy consideration :D
IMO the problem with the 9M is not it’s seeker(other than lock range), it’s the missile performance. Every other IR missile at top tier is a better close in weapon by a significant margin. AIM-95 would solve that without changing the IRCCM status quo.
AIM-9R would just make decoying more difficult, but have no effect on maneuvering envelope.
It does. It also would have incorporated an HMD system for close in dogfighting(well before the Soviets ever did). It was only cancelled because the “interim” AIM-9L performed so well(because IRL is not a video game) it was deemed not necessary and the current political climate was on cutting military spending.
USA planes are fine, the issue is in the skill of the playerbase. You are about to receive AIM-120C-5s. Enjoy them.
Which as they currently stand are not even going to be a noticeable improvement over the current 120A/B. It has neither the HOB nor seeker improvements it should have, regardless of any extra(or as it currently stands negligible) range, which are far more important in making it a competitive ARH.
That’s ok because the current top tier USA status is fine as it was anyway. The addition is unnecessary.
Gaijin balances these missiles and doesn’t really use the real stats, it is what it is.
So having a bottom 3 ARH(or just flat out the worst 14.0 ARH) the worst close in missile, and 1st/2nd worst FM performance is fine as is?
Some of this is true, some of it is a stretch, either way none of it is something minor nations haven’t suffered from for about 100x the amount of time the USA has had to do. USA is currently experiencing a downslope in metaness that will simply be rectified the next time gaijin says its time for USA to be blatantly the best again as they always do eventually. You are not so new to this game you are unaware of the leap frog meta.
You’re crying about my old name too? Very cringe, especially when I’m not attacking your character but discussing the topic… civilly…
I still play every nation, including USA. You’re welcome to check yesterday’s games on my account.
Why are you so fragile?
Jokes on me for giving you respect.
What I say is not an insult to any specific person. You taking offense to it is not my problem. It is obvious I do not mean “100% of USA playerbase is trash” and rather that, as I’ve said and as you’ve read from my posts 100 times before, that the USA playerbase is both. 1. The largest air playerbase by multitudes higher than the next largest playerbase and 2. Massively filled with premium noobs/first tech tree players etc.
Zero reading of what I said in favor of emotional based outrage. Enjoy having literally not a single soul on this forum’s respect because you’re so thick headed and uncivil.
The difference is I don’t pretend not to be an asshole
It also completely sidesteps the point,
If it were entirely the result of “US mains” why is it coming to the F-15I, which is a direct upgrade to the F-15E. Why is it coming to the Fin F-18C? Which clearly is only played by superior skilled Swedish players… Why is it coming to the Eurofighters…
Your copout completely misses the mark, and the point of this thread. Which is that the US’s IR missile option for top tier is lacking (some of which is historical, and some of which is artificial) and there are options that could fix that without straying into the IIR systems being added on the ground.
