General playtest of air-to-air missiles with ARH Seekers (FOX-3)

Right now the missiles are really buggy but the r77 is unusable in any engagement beyond 10-15 kilometers the missile doesn’t even track the target.

Is there any way to test the Fox-3s without being on the dev server event? As in a test drive or sum

No, they are currently only implemented in the devs server event tab

Nice to see ARH missiles in the works, though I think they need an alert for when the missile they have fired goes ‘Pitbull’ (acquires a lock itself and no longer requires guidance from the parent aircraft), either as an audio cue or a text alert similar to when you use flaps or airbrake.
This could also be implemented as a line of text on the HMD display for aircraft such as the F-16 which have the Helmet view modelled in-game.

I’m pretty sure this system exists in real life, but even if it doesn’t it would be a nice quality of life upgrade for using the missiles.

Additionally, in real life pilots can fire a “maddog” where the missile is fired without a radar lock and then the missile flies until it is almost out fuel before activating its radar and tracking the target.
This I understand could be considered overpowered for War Thunder, as it basically extends the “fire and forget” nature of the Fox-3 missiles to launch, not just missile activation.

that’s just SMT’s TWS being shitty

RWRs already alert you to the missile going pitbull. On the F-16C, for example, the RWR shows “MSL”, gives a hard lock warning, and shows where the missile is coming from. If you mean we should get a different notification from simply being spiked then sure that would be great.

Also to my knowledge, the AMRAAM wasnt able to be fired maddog until the C variants. I could be totally wrong on that one, but that’s what I remember hearing in other discussions.

it does when you fire it in pitbull, not when it goes pitbull after launch

That’s a DCS module/mod. Gripen isn’t integrated with these missiles irl

the number of in game player should be reduce. (just in game with FOX-3)
After 3h experiences, it just feels like playing AC with map “Bering Strait”. At the beginning, the missile just everywhere, everybody try to avoid or being kill, then everybody just start close combat. those fancy BVR tac only can see and enjoy at the end of game.

the missile ARH property should be fix.
Now all these fox3 are weird, they will keep sway after launch, that makes them quickly lose speed. So i usually use them within visual range as a sidewinder.
The ARH it self also strange, i check the reply and find those 120A lock enemy aircraft first, but immediatly change target after ARH find other 120A. Is that normal? Considering the RCS, aircraft should be much easier to lock than the missile.

the reply system should be improve
News sensor view is good, but with some performance issue. when open all tags and everybody start launching missile, seriosuly framedrop will appear, my R75800 and 3060 only have 3FPS at that time

What is a DCS mod? The picture?

only top one

I don’t see the correlation to a DCS mod, I even linked it from SAAB’s own website?

actually idk now. it looks very close to dcs mod I’ve seen recently

still tho it only shows that it’s possible to integrate these weapons but that doesn’t mean they are already integrated into the jet

Has nothing to do with DCS

This is Gripen C’s page on SAAB’s website, at the bottom you can find downloads for different fact sheets, including the one from the top picture.

I’m guessing whoever made the DCS mod probably used SAAB’s actual product sheet wherever you found it

I might hope gaijin add another active radar homing MRAAM Rb.99, AIM-120C-3 and SD-10 in dev server new version or 2nd major update in summer

Gaijin consider test active radar homing BVRAAM on F-16A Block 15 ADF (ITA), JAS39A Gripen, JA37D Viggen and F-16A Block 20 MLU (ROCAF) in next dev server ?

RB99 is the same to current AMRAAM

You guess in dev server new version gaijin test active radar homing BVRAAM by AIM-120B on F-16A Block 15 ADF (ITA), JAS39A Gripen, JA37D Viggen and F-16A Block 20 MLU (ROCAF) ?

They prob won’t do that honestly. Too much work for some 5 day testing. I can expect them to change/tweak the missiles a bit before dev server closes but that’s about it

@Texas_Engineer_Mike And after dev server closed, this major update in live server gajin will test active radar homing BVRAAM ?
