General Japanese, Thai & Indonesian Ground Forces Discussion HQ

Oh, Japan would use Patria AMV 8x8 to replace Type 96, does this also mean no Type 24/25 project? I mean I like Patria look, but I want more japanese own vehicles

No, the Type 24/25 are separate programs to the Type 96 replacement. The CTCWs are intended to serve alongside the Type 16 in the Rapid Deployment Regiment.
The Patria however is intended to replace the Type 96 & Type 73 APCs with the regular forces.

If just a regular type 16 why pack like this? Are they testing something on it?

new transmission types

This should make STA-2B a more alluring addition, but I wonder if it can be made as a new suggestion anymore? Maybe STA-1B at least, though it wouldn’t be that much different at all. STA-2B would easily make a nice premium tank.

STA-1 and STA-2 both initially used a torque converters with 550hp engine. Unfortunately those hadn’t matured yet and had horrible power losses. STA-1B switched to 600hp engine, while STA-2B received a planetary-steering system derived directly from Type 4 Chi-To.

There are few more changes these tanks could have, specially if they are implemented as additional vehicles.

  1. (engine or transmission change already mentioned)
  2. Change 8-16x sight to 4-8x sight. I have never seen mention of such 16x sight, so I assume they used same as production Type 61.
  3. Add stereoscopic rangefinder. Both tanks had the holes for this and in museum photos STA-2B had the rangefinder vision blocks visible as well.
  4. Remove HEAT round. I don’t believe they had M348 for it. Type 61 only received HEAT round several years later, though it was another model.
  5. Fix ammunition rack layout. Already reported for STA-2. Additional sources for STA-1 are hard to find, though it’s obviously wrong in game.
  6. Add .50 cal to STA-2.

History if this square gun mantlet is not known. It might be placed on it to cover the damages suffered as they shot the turret with various guns.

Uhmm why did the RCV go from 9.0 to 9.3…its missing a lineup now.

Type 10 Gears got changed on dev

I’m hopeful due to the last devblog about modeling transmissions more accurately, but the Type 10 uses a CVT and the way gear ratios work for them is completely different to all other types.

I tried the TKX(P) for a match, as well as the Type 90s.

The Type 90s feel a bit better from the changes, but the TKX(P) just felt super slow…

I’ll probably try some more games later since I was playing with a friend and he only did one ground match.

I’m all for more historical ammunition loadouts, but this was a major gimmick that made them more standout from the M26s.

To compensate, perhaps they could receive 7 sec reloads, which would bring them in-line with the M36s they were partially derived from.

Type 10 tanks have a handle on the rear right side that allows the fire suppression system to be activated from the outside. Therefore, I think it would be unnatural for the battery to be located where that handle is likely connected.

the APU is also a bit too far into the engine

iirc this should be the service panel for it

on the Type 10 the APU exhaust is coming from the engine exhaust instead of the APU exhaust too (I guess they mistook the shielded and directed down APU exhaust on the left for something else)

Man, i love my 12.0 type 90, worst thermal, worst shell, worst lineup, paper thin armor, worst enemy’s + small autoloader capacity

And still russian players cried for it to be uptiered, while Types literally one shoted by 2S38

Dude, it gets oneshoted in front by bmp2 and btr80 30mm cannon, not even a missile

What Japan did to deserve so much hate from gaijins?

It’s more about how it goes againts russian and chinese players (in fact as in game country and country itself), no one cares what japanese players think. USA, USSR/Russia and China gives most money for packs, also Germany but it’s top tier still losing. Japan would be in the end of money line, less must be only Israel
