General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

…oh wait the autoloader would be different…

Thats what i was thinking, i dont think we know what shell the export tanks get. But i would assume that whatever shells they are buying can be used for both the T84 and VT4.

…Are the rounds used in t80s and T72s shared?

I think Singapore would also be a good fit for Japan:

But seriously tho I forget can T80 APFSDS be used in T72 tanks… they should right?

Yea, Russian T72B3 and T80BVM can both use 3BM60. I dont see why the VT4 couldnt share ammo with T84.

yeah the should 125 mm just new cannon that its more resistant

So if the Thai tree was added most likely the Oplot and VT4 would share rounds… it just depends on what rounds the Thailand have access too…

problem is that we dont know what rounds those thai use for oplot and VT-4 its highly probable they use an export round from china for both

…Knowing gaijin they’ll probs just either add russian or Chinese rounds… remember they add rounds as balance

I was just trying to think of other asian nations that can come to Japan without offending everybody

none lol, everyone its too sensitive about that, anyways taking in count how much they care about this, thai its surely going for japan, no doubt about it

It could be Thai mixed with some other asian vehicles. Like Thailand and or Malaysia or Singapore etc (just examples)…maybe there wont be a sub tree and will just be random additions when needed who knows.

The only people who would be sensitive are Chinese nationalists. There are a bunch of Asian countries with active border disputes with China who are getting security grants and CG vessels from Japan who would have no issue being with Japan.

was thinking more about south korea nationalists but chinese nationalist its a good example yeah

can ya send the thread link? Curious to know what they are saying.

look no further than the recent post where someone proposed Japan get NATO vhicles of pacific nations only if any of those nations are to be added.

basically the 75%-copy-paste tree wants their exclusivity with a generous serving of hypocrisy

From my old tweet that i have written sometime ago.

The M41GTI, short for ‘German Tank Improvement,’ was first unveiled at the 1986 Weapons Exhibition in Malaysia. It resulted from the collaboration of various West German arms companies, including Gesellschaft Für Logistics Service GmbH, Krauss-Maffei, Krupp Atlas, MTU, Wegmann, AEG, and Dil.

This upgrade project included replacing the original Continental AOS-895-3 six-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine with an MTU MB833Aa-501 six-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine. The fuel tank capacity was also expanded to accommodate 800 liters of diesel, up from the previous 540 liters of gasoline, extending the operational range to an impressive 600 kilometers. Additionally, it incorporated the Halon-1302 automatic fire extinguishing system, the same system used in the Leopard tank.

Regarding the main armament, it retained the 76mm M32 gun as before but with increased firepower thanks to the M331A1 HESH-TP-T ammunition, which had a muzzle velocity of 1257 meters per second. The tank also featured an ELAN-41 gun stabilization system by AEG and a Krupp-Atlas Electronic fire control system. It was equipped with an electronic digital ballistic computer, a monocular sight for day and night operations, and a laser rangefinder in the central targeting unit. The computer system calculated target distance, wind speed, temperature, ammunition type, and elevation angle for precise aiming. The machine gun on the coaxial mount was replaced from the previous M1919A4 .30-06 caliber to an HK-21E 7.62x51mm machine gun.

Germany tested this tank in Thailand and achieved satisfactory results. They proposed the improvements to the Thai army, but the M41 tanks were not upgraded to M41GTI by the Thai military…
