SK is in no way a better option. An independent Korean tree was already announced and it’s what Korean players have been wanting for years. It’s a well deserved addition.

I also wouldn’t say Malaysia could really dilute much. Nearly all of their vehicles are either unique variants or even entirely unique to Malaysia. They’d have a very difficult time picking out only the copied vehicles, since there’s only a small handfull of obscure or redundant options:
Daimler Armored Car, MiG-29N (as delivered, before any modifications), F-5E and maybe the T-90S if we stretch it to trial vehicles.

Aside from a single non-locally made IFV, the Turkish ACV-300, I can’t see a single piece of equipment that would be unique (aside from the SK exports, funnily enough.) There already exists multiple F-5s through Thai, and Japan TT does not need a mig or a t-90. Those vehicles just reinforce my point.

Yes, these are the only four vehicles I could think of that are direct copies of vehicles that would be copies. Everything else is unique in some way.

I was listing them to show that for Gaijin to mess up Malaysia they’d need to make questionable decisions like add another (now unmodified) F-5, the MiG-29N without the features that make it unique, or a trial only unmodified T-90. None of those are very likely to be picked over more popular unique options.

Because you asked, and I thought it’d be fun, here’s all Malaysian vehicles that could be added (that I’d know of at least), sorted by categories:

  • Malaysian (co)developed - 7
Full list
  • DefTech AV8 - 3 possible variants
    • AFV30
    • AFV30 (LCT30 ATGW)
    • IFV25
  • DefTech / Chaiseri Condor (20mm)
  • GK-M1/M2 - 3 possible variants
    • GK-M1 Starstreak
    • GK-M2 Starstreak (single launcher)
    • GK-M2 Starstreak (triple launcher)
→ Admittedly these would be very similar to eachother functionally, but that doesn’t make them less domestic.
  • Vehicles exclusive to Malaysia - 1
Full list
  • AFSV-90
  • Variants exclusive to Malaysia - 20
Full list
  • A-4 - 2 possible variants
    • A-4PTM
→ Modernized A-4C with new avionics, additional harpoints and a drag chute
    • TA-4PTM
→ Twin seat variant of A-4PTM
  • ACV-300 - 2 possible variants
    • ACV-300 Adnan (Sharpshooter turret)
    • ACV-300 ATGW
  • BAE Hawk - 2 possible variants
    • Hawk 108
    • Hawk 208
→ Malaysia is the main operator of any Hawk 200 variant, having bought more than the only other two operators (Oman and Indonesia) combined.
  • CL-41G
→ Malaysia is the only operator of an armed variant
  • Land Rover Defender (Starburst)
  • Mercedes GD290 - 2 possible variants
    • GD290 (40mm)
    • GD290 (Metis-M ATGM)
→ Both were domestically fitted with not only their armament, but also 360° coverage smoke launchers
  • MB.339AM
→ Armed MB.339A variant for Malaysia
  • MiG-29 - 2 possible variants
    • MiG-29N
→ MiG-29SD modified with air to air refuelling probe and fitted with AIM-9L/M Sidewinder missiles
    • MiG-29NUB
→ Twin seat variant of the MiG-29N. Loses the radar but keeps the IRST.
  • Object 478DU8 Oplot
→ Oplot variant specifically made for Malaysia, lost to the PT-91M but was never adopted by or offered to another nation.
  • PT-91M
→ PT-91 variant made for Malaysia with improved 1000hp engine, new FCS and ERAWA 2 ERA.
  • Scorpion - 2 possible variants
    • Scorpion 90
→ Domestically fitted with 360° coverage smoke launchers
    • KSSB Scorpion
→ Modification of the service Scorpion 90 armed with a 20mm cannon
  • Stormer FVT900
  • Su-30MKM
→ Su-30MKI derivative with western avionics and MAWS, Damocles TGP and GBU integration.
  • VAMTAC RapidRanger (Igla)
  • Vehicles / Variants not exclusive to Malaysia, but not in game - 13
Full list
  • A109 LOH
→ Malaysian variant of the export AW109 LUH. Only here since I’m not sure if they’re different it’s here.
  • CA-27 Mk.32
→ Australian CAC Sabre that essentially reworked the F-86 into a new aircraft in order to fit it with the Rolls-Royce Avon engine. Malaysia is one of the only two export customers, next to Indonesia.
  • Caddillac Gage Commando - 2 possible variants
    • V-150 (MECAR 90mm)
→ Same variant used by Indonesia
    • V-150 (20mm)
  • CV90120
→ Trial only. Different (earlier) variant than what is currently in game.
  • F-5 - 3 possible variants
    • F-5B
    • F-5F
    • RF-5E
→ None of these are very unique, and rather common export vehicles. But these are also not adding anything Thailand / Indonesia wouldn’t already and as twin seat / recon variants are unlikely to be added anyways.
  • F/A-18D
→ Malaysian F/A-18D were modernized, but it wasn’t domestic and I’m not sure if others might have had similar modernizations which is why they are here. Still as they exclusively operate twin seat D models while Gaijin prefers adding single seat aircraft where possible, they might be unique through that alone.
  • M109A5
    → Also operated by Thailand
  • MD-530G
  • VAMTAC RapidRanger (Starstreak)
→ This variant is also operated by Indonesia.
  • Vickers MBT Mk.3M
→ Trial only. Unsuccessful modernization of the Vickers MBT. It’s here because it wasn’t made specifically for Malysia, so other nations may have been offered the same variant (I don’t know)
  • Direct Copies - 4
Full list
  • Daimler Armored Car
  • F-5E
  • MiG-29N
→ As delivered before local modification. Mig-29 9.12SD, functionally the same as 9.13
  • T-90S
→ Trial only. Same as T-90A in game

So that is a total of 28 unique vehicles, to only 17 that are operated by any other nation. Of those 17 copies only 4 are already in game, while the rest would still be new and unique to the game and could simply added to multiple nations. That’s a pretty good rate.

Though if I missed any I’d love to hear which that would be. You mentioned Korean imports for example, so if there’s others than the future FA-50M that’d be interesting to hear about.

Forgot to mention the unique vehicles ofc, like the ACV-300, AV-8, VAMTAC (Igla/Starstreak) and Cendana (Karaok). Nevermind the fact that the PT-91M + Su-30MKM are Malaysian variants. This is a similar situation to the Oplot-T, the future M163 and M60A3 upgrades + Thai F-5s.

Just an asterisk, the VAMTAC RapidRanger is in the process of being adopted by the UK & Portugal, and is in service with Indonesia. Doesn’t detract from your point though.

I hope Indonesia or Malaysia buy some Martlets :3

might be unique for a little bit then :(

Yep, I mentioned Indonesia as well (but didn’t know UK and Protugal were buying them). It’s really only there because I wanted to group it with the Igla variant but it’s counted as a non-exclusive vehicle in the numbers.

Looking back it’s just confusing, I’ll change it.

There’s still plenty of unique vehicles from Malaysia, including their own domestic Starstreak cars.

Either way it’s be a massive benefit to the tree when stuff comes to plug the 9.7 - 11.7 gulf, giving a decent SAM against helicopters, though for now it’ll be a bit redundant (Gaijin would probably give it 10.0 ig?)

Hopefully with Indonesian Leo 2s and Malaysian PT-91M (Seems roughly analogous to the 10.3 T-72s, but I’m no expert) backed up with some Hawk 208s and Hawk 209s :3

If only Type 81C had it realistic function of launching IR/TV missile in LOAL mode via INS using only sight of launcher. It won’t get datalink data in this way (only radar vehicle can use datalink for the missiles) but it will be still useful against helicopters because lock range won’t be an issue
And we already have Python 5 which works this way
But in game - none

I’d like to request that Gaijin replace the F-16 OCU with an (e)MLU version. This upgrade should include a better radar, more countermeasures, an HMD, the SNIPER pod, AIM-120C-5 missiles, and the ability to carry 4 IRIS-T. OCU in the game is useless.

I still don’t think it should be replaced by another variant, it just needs to be fixed to the actual OCU. The (e)MLU would still be really nice to see as a separate aircraft in the future

Change the BR to 13.0, in exchange for removing the AMRAAM it never carried and the HMD only mounted to the two seat B OCU. Then add the missing features like the missing countermeasures, GBU-16 and AGM-65G and it’d be a very useful aircraft at this lower BR.
Maybe it could even be 12.7 since the Belgian OCU is at that BR with the same AIM-9M loadout.

We already have martlets? (unless im mistaken)

EDIT:

LMM written there on the box

Yup those are Martlets, my bad! Serves me right for only double checking with the wikipedia operators section. Guess I’ll dig out a decent source and edit the page.
(Come on gaijin baby adats timeee)

Your extensive list has 4 unique vehicles. Come on, a 20mm on a truck? Considering vehicles that have a slight armament difference unique is ridiculous. Like comparing the oplot T&M and saying they’re not copy paste.

Nothing here is really to get excited about. If it was only the unique one-offs they considered I wouldn’t care, but what Japan could use is another unique MBT line with their small amount of options. Thai has at least added one, in a pick of 3 while other nations have easily 6. Meanwhile an independent Korea tree would be mostly copy paste until modern vehicles, it would be better to put the Koreas in Japan and China instead to avoid making an unnecessary tree where you have to grind to high tier just to enjoy something unique.

You’re only diluting these nations by making a mash up of nato and eastern bloc equipment and variants we’ve seen or will (1 update and oplot was pasted into china LOL) You probably have a few layers of masks on. I can’t see why you would unironically support that. I guess you did make the ASEAN suggestion and because Thai is in JP now the entire tree is just a dumping ground for all of that.

here’s the source btw: https://www-hobbymiliter-com.translate.goog/12589/lmm-martlet-rudal-hanud-multi-misi-terbaru-yang-dimiliki-indonesia/?_x_tr_sl=id&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp&_x_tr_hist=true

the images were originally uploaded by the Air Defence Battalion so should be good enough as a source
