General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

Was there a shi-ki command tank early and late variants? Or atlest late and early hulls?

Think that’s what he means by a new discussion thread, as this is “Japanese” and “Thai” Ground forces.

The 14th Tank Regiment used captured M3A1 Stuaks during the Battle of Imphal.
Is this a actual M3A1?

What I-Go variant is this?

What’s the round thing to the side of the chi ha’s turret?

Does anyone know what these tanks are or are they still unknow?

Same hill I think

Odd looking chi ha kai. The turret is too smooth and copula at the top is a semisphere.

What tank is this?

These are almost certainly just Chi-Ha that have been heavily edited by a censor to the point where their appearance is unrecognizable. Looking at the suspension, which may be the only part not significantly altered, it seems pretty apparent that they’re just Chi-Ha.

This is a normal Chi-Ha Kai, where incorrect shapes have been drawn in for the rear of the turret and hull because they blended into the sky in the original photograph.

I’ve noticed one turret is mounted more to the right than the other. And it doesn’t match the chi ha prototype 2 (ignore the suspension because it was tested later). If I had to guess it might have been a competition between 2 companies (first prototypes) on who would get the production run. Something similar with gm and chrysler like with the xm1.

I guess that could be it atlest the right side of the hull and turret. But it still doesn’t explain the copula shape it’s just too detailed around that area.

And I found this recently.

I originally thought it was the ho ni and nothing much about it. But it doesn’t really match the gun shields. Like for example the corner between the back part and the roof has the slope/cut on the ho ni 1 and 2 production but it’s not there. I thought it was the ho ni 2 prototype which also didn’t match the turret shield on the back is a triangle shape sloping up to the roof and the width is sorter roughly like the ho ni 1 prototype. Just wish the box wasn’t on the way.

As @_qaz already mentioned, I think analyzing the appearance is virtually meaningless since this photo seems to have had drawings added over it. The upper hull, in particular, looks as if most of it has been retouched with drawings. Of course, this vehicle could be a new one, but to determine that with certainty we would need other sources, not such an unreliable photo.

The cupola was also drawn over—more precisely, part of the cupola was redrawn. If you look at the original photo, you can see that there is nothing unusual about the cupola.

This is the production model of the Ho-Ro. You can easily recognize it by the rear ammunition storage.

I guess now we got a rear photo.

I decided to take another look at DSEI 2025 now that a few months have passed, and I found a couple other things

Kongsberg’s 30mm RCWS, apparently already in contract with the JGSDF?

Upgrades for the Type 10?

By the way, was there any mention of the hard-kill APS they are/were developing?

Possibly, no details were mentioned other than the potential for upgrading light vehicles and such and the abilities of the RCWS.

I believe Japan is looking to purchase foreign APS, either Trophy, Iron Fist, or StrikeShield. They are not longer continuing development of their own if I remember correctly.

So when AGM-114L for japan?

Eh, Brimstone is also MMW/SAL and is locked to SAL for gameplay purposes.
I do find it really funny that the US is getting a Hellfire reskin on a new heli in the same update we’re getting SAMP/T, CAMM, & Buk

Welp, Japan is getting shafted in terms of top tier anti air…

100km aster 30 meanwhile japan still has no type-03 chu-sam
Im gonna lose it…

Fixing the Tan-SAM kai would at least make it good enough, right now it’s just sad. Even if it got fixed, IRIS-T would still be much better. After we get SAMP/T and stuff, Tan-SAM kai will be totally obsolete.

Japan needs the Tan-SAM kai to get IOG+DL on the IR missiles, and also needs to have the loadout fixed - for which I made up a temporarily solution: Everything wrong with the Tan-SAM Kai (TADS) - #216 by Shplendyt

Anyway, even if Tan-SAM kai ever works as it should, it would still be way worse. Type 03 Chu-SAM is very needed. What else is needed is BR decompression, or at least having the better SAMs at higher BRs, since Tan-SAM kai can never be as effective as IRIS-T SLM or SAMP/T, so having them all on the same 12.0 BR is just crazy.
