General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

Is there any information out there on if any of the japanese MBTs use VT-fuse shells or any other airburst shells? Or maybe if the Thai MBTs have those?

Here isn’t any VT-fuse or airburst round for MBT
The only ammo used is JM33, Type 10, JM12 HEAT and Type 00 practice round

Well, I know that the VT-4 and VN16 that Thailand operates have the same guns as vehicles already in-game (VT4A1, ZTL-11), that can in fact use HE-VT. Not sure about the T-84 but since it uses a 125mm gun the shells would have to be of equal caliber, of which I’m not sure the Soviets ever fielded an HE-VT shell of that size.

The Russians have a timed-fuze shell, the 3OF26, but whether Ukraine or Thailand have access to those, I do not know. One thing is being able to load those, which they probably could, the other thing is being fitted with a FCS that can set the desired time.

Same goes for the Japanese MBTs - the Type 90 uses the same gun found on German Leopard 2s and therefore could load the DM11, and the Type 10 is said to be able to load all NATO standard ammunition - but being able to set the time on the fuze is a whole other thing.

Type 99 SPH uses Cluster ammunition, as well having a LRF+LWS (not ingame sadly)

VT-Fuse/airburst no, though its speculated that the CTWV’s have ability to use VT/AHEAD/Airburst Rounds

Where from is this information?

Yeah they get VT-fuse

Btw
If I hear another suggestion of the T-84 being added to Japan before their actual top tier tanks get added imma lose it.
No offense to you guys you guys are phenomenal. However we should absolutely be spamming gaijin and boycotting them over the Type 10 controversy. It’s horrendous

Will there ever be a ground event vehicle for JP

We will likely see a less common Thai vehicle or another ASEAN nation fill the event and premium slot similar to how Norway is for Sweden and Romania for Italy.

I’m actually curious as to how much of an effect Shtora has on the ATGMs irl

On March 18, 2025, a Shinhoto Chi-Ha arrived to Japan by container ship. This is the first time that this specific tank has been to Japan in over 80 years since it was captured by the U.S.

Interesting still is that the NPO apparently plans on visiting both Australia and the U.S. later this year to negotiate the return of even more vehicles; in Australia’s case I suspect this will be the Type 94 TK or 97 Te-Ke, but as for the U.S. I am not sure.

I’m surprised Japan doesn’t have a single example of their own tankettes. TBH, I’d rather they go for the Type 98 Ro-Ke in Australia…

To be fair the Ro-Ke isn’t nearly as significant as a tank such as the Type 97/94. Last I remember the only examples even close to Japan were the few Type 94 turrets found on Chichijima.

Are there any news abt Thai’s r600 platform with 120 turret.

Hopefully America doesn’t give away all of its Type 94s and Type 97s…

Well, it would certainly be interesting if something like the Ho-Ro, Ka-Tsu, or Ho-Ni I was brought back instead, but it could also be an American vehicle to represent one in former JGSDF service.
