General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

sure that could work i dont know if the top tier Chinese rounds are compatible with the older autoloaders found on the T84 but its not like gaijin hasnt given things to vehicles that they were never able to carry just for balancing reason. if it can get the top tier Chinese round it probably be a good 12.0 tank

Is there really no Japanese WW2 SPAA that could actually be different to those present in the game yet not be completely made-up (aka “paper vehicles”)?

It’s straight up bs that Japanese didn’t produce many types of SPAAGs during WW2 (I mean, Ta-Se and So-Ki were pretty much prototypes that weren’t produced in numbers from what I remember) and something like Ta-Ha is just ground forces R2Y2.

I mean, there is literally no proper SPAAGs left for Japan (unless we count those one-off prototypes using the same armament as existing ones), so probably the Japanese premium pack shall consist of higher ranks (I saw an interesting suggestion making a premium pack out of prototype STAs and Type 60 SPRGs and SUB-I-II, as that one is pretty much a one-off prototype as well).

IIRC the Ta-Ha actually had a few significant parts built so it is eligible.

being able to see enemy planes in the air is a huge plus for me
Also you used both the Spyder and TanSam, which one would you say is the superior system now?

I’d love to have this added on both the 9.3 Type 93 and a theoretical Kai upgrade.
When I played the Type 93 the only issue I faced is that I cannot spot targets quick enough in the sky

As far as I know, Japan never completed any SPAAG projects with guns larger than a 20mm cannon, aside from some much older pre-war models that were equipped with outdated weapons and mounted on painfully slow trucks—not exactly ideal.

I actually had a similar idea. I think the pack would be much better if it were themed around Cold War-era Self-Defense Forces. That way, the SUB-1-II could be included as well—perhaps reimagined as a vehicle that actually entered service.

The other two vehicles I’d love to see are the Type 61 and the Type 60 SPRG.

The Type 61 underwent a number of modifications and camouflage trials, so it offers a lot of potential for creating something visually interesting and unique.

Heck, they could even give us the Type 61B.

For a tank destroyer, I’d consider either the Type 60 SPRG or the Type 75 SPH.
The Type 75 SPH might actually be the better option, since it shares the same BR as the Type 61.

Type 60 SPRG with winter tracks.

Type 75 SPH in experimental camouflage during Fuji’s Firepower exercise in the 70s.
The camouflage pattern resembled the US MERDC. Haven’t seen anything crazy done to this SPH.

Well, Zaslin wasn’t fitted to many, if any, BM Oplot zr. 2009 even in Ukraine. Maybe just one, and I haven’t even had this verified. What it would have is Varta (guard, warden), pretty much Ukrainian made Shtora. Everything else you said is about right.

As for a round, it depends on how goofy Gaijin wants to get. 3BM44U may have been tested on Oplots, though likely not the Thai ones. It would most likely get Chinese APFSDS.

They could also replace the 7.7 mm roof mg replaced with the experimental 12.7 mm 7.7 or 7.92 mm Type 4 to make them a bit more distinct.

Type 4 is 7.7mm machine gun and it looks like this one never was tested on tank prototypes

Hard to say, Pythons on the Spyder seemed to not work properly, and Derbys don’t pull enough in closer ranges and at longer ranged it has the same issue as any other ARH missile - it triggers RWR so you just notch and chaff it easily.

Tan-SAM kai has the Type 81 C IR that we all know and love, sadly still has a very limited range. The ARH could easily take on targets up to 10 kms away but just as with Derby - easily notched and chaffed.

Don’t know which one is better, but the Tan-SAM at least has an almost 100% kill probability at ranges 0.5km to 4 km.

Considering the thai use the vt4 and most likely bought apfsds for that tank and if the chinese can be used in shorter autoloaders then they mostnlikely use it for both no?

Is there any improvement for shooting the IR version btw other than radar slaving. Since it seem to get no datalink(in the missile sheet atleast, didn’t test it on test server), we might not be able to shoot at low IR signature target like Heli in LOAL like other systems.

Indeed, there was no change to the missile. You can’t launch it unless the missile itself gets an IR lock, there was nothing like LOAL or DL + IOG.

It’s at least been accepted as a bug report, so maybe we’ll see it fixed on release.

What spreadsheet do you mean btw? The one I got ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SsOpw9LAKOs0V5FBnv1VqAlu3OssmX7DJaaVAUREw78/pubhtml# ) doesn’t have any Japanese SAMs.

I had the same issue. Somehow the “SAM (IR/OPTICAL)” section doesn’t show all the time, at least for me, so maybe you were also having that problem.

Spoiler

I ended up finding them here, but for some reason at least the forum preview it gives me while writing this is missing the “SAM (IR/OPTICAL)” section again.

I tried this link again, even when I open it the section is missing

From the tab I took the screenshots in (and copied the link from) I had this selection that seems to be missing completely when I open the same link again

Oh damn, I’ve never seen the IR/Optical tab there. And I don’t see it on the preview neither.

Trying to find a video where we could see the Type 93 fire the missile and then see how it flies cuz it would help a lot convincing the report mods that the Type 93 indeed uses the improved Type 91 SAM. Found this instead, close enough?

PS: if anyone knows such a video or finds one, please out a link to the video in the report I made (can be found a bit above)

I do like the idea of these bundles but I don’t like the execution of them. For example the flakpanzer iv ostwind ii ostfront and the Skink (Hell) are pure paper. I mean why didn’t they add the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade Version for the Skink? For the other tanks in the similar bundles I’ve heard it’s no longer unique tanks like the Stuart VI (5th CAD), M3A1 (USMC), and T-34 (1st Gv.T.Br.) but instead a mashup of different designs? Idk I liked the uniqueness of have the actual real life version but that’s just me.
For the Japanese bundle we could have one of the other spaa that was not implemented yet like the SPAAG Ki-To or the Ka-Mi SPAA.

I think the only Japanese SPAAG that would fit the bill is the Ta-Ha, because the Ka-Mi SPAA shown here is a postwar construct.
