I am suprised that the Type 90 and Type 10 with anti-drone protection were not posted in this thread yet.

Such a shame JGSDF never shows the upgraded armor package of the Type 10 (the 48 ton one). Do we even have any info on that? I know it likely includes the enhanced driver protection, but does it also upgrade the sides, or maybe top with the use of ERA?

Do we even know if it exists at this point

Yes, it’s specifically mentioned in documents. There is a doc out there showing a drawing with weight simulators matching the mass and shape of Armor package III for the Type 16 that was originally only known about in a similar way to the 48t armor package

There is absolutely some document somewhere showing the 48t armor for the Type 10, but without knowing the name of the doc, we have no way of requesting it or knowing if it’s still restricted.

I heard that the Type 16 MCV can be equipped with explosive reactive armor, and I have also seen real vehicle pictures (unfortunately, I haven’t found the source of the pictures now). But I think merely attaching explosive reactive armor is not enough for it to be competent for the 10.3 BR. Perhaps it is still advisable to consider adding the vehicles of the Thai Army to the Japanese technology tree. The VT4 tank can be provided to China as an advanced vehicle

Personally I’d also hope they still consider Indonesia alongside Thailand especially for this role, since Thailand also still lacks a top tier light tank for the top tier lineup. The Stingray is a very interesting tank, but would likely not be any more capable than the Type 16 already is.
The Indonesian Pandur FSV could be an interesting option for the top tier lineup with more modern shells and a faster reload compared to what the Type 16 has in game.

I completely agree with your point. I also think adding the Thai Army as a sub-tree to Japan’s tech tree, along with some Indonesian vehicles, would help round out Japan’s lineup. But honestly, I’m especially excited about the Thai Army’s T84 main battle tank appearing as a top-tier vehicle in Japan’s tech tree. In the current version, Japan’s top-tier ground forces desperately need MBTs that can reliably hold the frontline.

I found some messages says the type 10 will equip with aps and rws and it will have 30mm machine gun on it.Really?

Yes, it was announced September of last year. I haven’t heard of any progress since though.

Correct, Here you go

Selected APS for Evaluation:
Rafael’s Trophy
Rheinmetall’s Strike Shield
Elbit’s Iron Fist

Selection Criteria:
Protection against upper hemisphere threats
360° interception capability
Total weight under 1000 kg

【Remote-Operated Module Testing】
System: Kongsberg RS6 (equipped with a 30mm gun)
Key Features: Integrated with the APS
Equipped with sensors to detect high-speed objects (e.g., drones)
Enhances tank’s defense against aerial threats and ground-based threats.

【Production and Modernization Plans】
RS6 Module: Approx. 300 units planned for acquisition.
Produced domestically at a rate of 10 units per year.

Type 10 Tank Production: 12 additional tanks to be ordered in 2025, bringing the total to 148 units.
Ultimate goal: Produce around 300 tanks.

Everything is correct except this

In document no word about what type of 30mm turret will be used but yes, mostly it will be RS6 and I can mistake but they already purchased some 30mm from Kongsberg

I was sent this like a 6+ months ago xD

I think it’ll be a later modernisation/planned but not sure if they wanna go ahead due to weight

I managed to find a new Thai vehicle, an armored car constructed for the Wild Tiger Corps sometime during or before 1919. Apparently, it is equipped with a 45hp engine and a 37mm gun. At least three have been built from photo evidence.

The video I found this vehicle in suggests (through an image not closed captions) that the gun in question is a 1-pounder pom-pom, however, I do not see the resemblance. Rather, I believe it may be a Hotchkiss naval gun, which were in service with Siamese ground forces around the time this vehicle is said to have been built.

The car in the foreground of this image seems to sport a smaller gun, possibly an MG, which is evidenced by the obviously different opening that has been cut out for said gun. It could be a different vehicle entirely. Since we can see two other cars in the background, it is possible that one of the three only had an MG mounted, but we do not know for sure.
