General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

I have read nothing about them doing such a thing. Gonna need a source on that buddy.

@Youka_Saryn would be able to enlighten more on this

Looks like no Thai-sub this update🫠

Still waiting on that M163 TVADS which would actually fix a literal hole in the tech tree 🫠🫠

Can the length of the mast be corrected based on this photo?

probably can be put on suggestion forum. but i think the current one is a decision based on “balancing”? so if it’s 'bug report’ed it will be marked as not a bug

Gaijin marked this as a bug report to be fixed

but when the hell will they actually add it?

With the Type 11 SPAA being leaked and expected to come, will it even be any more useful than the normal Type 81 we have right now? I mean, it will be able to lock on from further, but is it gonna help against helis? The Type 81 already struggles against low flying helis due to their IRCCM and ability to just sit low. The ARH missiles of the Type 11 might not get a lock either, given the nature of helis just hovering about? Or am I missing something?

We aren’t getting type 11 we are getting a new version of Type 81 but with its radar and ARH missile…the missile will be able to hit helicopters just fine simce they are active homing not IR.

Sorry, that’s what I meant.

That’s my point. Won’t ARH missiles have issue locking onto helis that are just hovering in the air? If you take a Harrier, hover in place and someone tries to fire an AMRAAM or any other ARH missile, they won’t be able to. I fear the new SPAA will have the same issue.

The Type 81 we have right now at least has photocontrast mode and thus can hit helis that are high enough, no matter if they’re just sitting in place.

will it be an extension of the existing one or a straight up new vehicle (makes no sense imo. Going from Type 81C to Type 81C)

It will be a new one.

Well thats mainly because of the angle the missing is coming from. But your in a sam and with your radar youll be able to keep full lock or even if it breaks lock it should have little issues finding its target but we’ll see tho its my opinion it will be able to handle helicopters just fine.

As I said, none of the ARH missiles we have in the game at the moment can lock and track stationary targets. That’s how notching works as well, the missile can’t see you if you’re not either moving away or towards it. I hope the new missile will be able to, but that would require a new mechanic.

thats gunna be annoying xD

You may be right. I guess we’ll see how it will perform in the dev server

For those who don’t know: this is because radar return from the main rotor is not modeled in-game. IRL, helis are not difficult to spot on radar due to this and some have put a lot of effort into reducing these radar returns.

Even the Harrier would not be immune to this at all because of the big exposed engine intake and compressor blades.

meanwhile gaijin:

lets anti ship missiles track tanks (it shouldnt be able to do this)
