Never noticed this pic of the proposed F-15JSI its a little oldish 2021~2022/3 but i hope they do give it that load out would be funny
I hope that after the upgrade they keep the EX air to ground armament compatibility, even if they dont have or use those weapons right now, just so that we can get a japanese ground strike F-15 in game through technical compatibility
As minimum F-15JSI will have access to the JASSM cruise missile so maybe they will use other ground capabilities
But it is not stated, won’t be surprised if it will can only take CM

Because of length GCS-1 could not be taken in one-by-one format. That is why central bombs located so weird and why F-1 can take only 2 GCS-1 under fuselage
That’s also three, two in front side by side and one behind below. It just doesn’t fit six that the pylon could because they are too long with the seeker on them.
I mean 2 on the 3 bomb part of this pylon. Of course there are 3 bombs but it is attached on 6 bomb pylon, it is what I mean

Nope, GCS-1 is fire and forget bomb using IR. It basically a bomb with sidewinder as a seeker. We have the model in the files (I think?). But no exact proof that it can lock onto tanks. I think it would be nice to use in nuclear thunder though…
So it was meant to go after very hot ground targets.

Not very hot, the same temperature as a landing craft would be. Those still have engines.

GCS-1 usage against North Korean Missile launchers.
GCS-1精密誘導装置、20世紀末までに自衛隊に装備されていたものはこれくらいです。

これは艦船の赤外線、より端的にはエンジン排熱等を感知し誘導する爆弾です。
北朝鮮ミサイル実験の際には、航空自衛隊の精密誘導爆弾として紹介される事もありましたが、
対地攻撃を行うにはミサイル発射装置の排熱を感知する必要があり、
近くに他の熱源、別の車両や炊事場などがあれば精密に誘導できない、
対艦攻撃用です、が、対艦攻撃用の場合には確実に機関部を照準でき、且つ、爆弾本体を直撃させるため、

I can see why Gaijin never added this its a bit of a mess and player might not like the idea of there heat seeking bomb randomly going to the hottest thing out there. Concerning naval the aircraft BR don’t match up (I would like there WW2 heat seeking bomb) but it would be a strange weapon though it would be funny to see one day so the F-1 Jet would have some use in ground beyond anti-air.
Though Japan’s allergy to precision guidance weapons is just interesting though from what I understand on the surface it was due to there stance on the military (Precision Guided Weapons are for offensive and aggressive actions only therefore not ideal with the legal situation) But it seems like it might have had sometime to do with the division of labor with the USA. USA handles the big stuff on the ground Japan keeps the sky clean and enemy subs away. Though one wonder how pure this division of labor is but things are changing F-35 gets the whole package apparently.
I would not find it unsurprising if one day we dig something up that the F-1 had been tested with a ATGM or something just in case they need to do it.

Though from how I would see this working in game you are leaning on the blast range of the bomb. Missile launchers are not armored and the missile has no armor.
