That thing looking like something from one of the what if the Cold War never ended sci-fi shows where the nations of the Earth kept pumping money into insane projects that would have been canned in the late 90s. But they never worked as intended.

forward RWR is wack

theres 3 version we could see in the research tree tbf, those two & the malaysian hawk 208

That could be very interesting, and is probably the most fitting range of variants for the techtree armament-wise since they’re all very distinct.

  • ID Hawk 53 with no radar and no missiles, only dumb bombs/rockets and the gunpod
  • ID Hawk 109 with nose FLIR and otherwise similar armament to Hawk 209, maybe with AIM-9P-5 to make the techtree one more unique.
  • MY Hawk 208 with radar, AIM-9L and AGM-84

That would even leave the Hawk 108 for an event vehicle in the future without taking away from the tree.

Can anyone else think of what an “IR K CONDENSER LENS RETICLE” could be, besides referring to part of a Köhler integration lens? I’m not aware of any other optical condenser system which starts with a K.

If I am right about this, it would have, very interesting implications for how the IRCCM on the AAM-3 should work (waiter waiter more AAM-3 buffs please!) Basically it would mean that the seeker would be a fair bit more efficient then other conical scan systems due to (complicated optic reasons i can explain if anyone wants). While also improving CEP, and making operation of the multiplexer for the dual band system a lot better, allowing for situational tracking of targets through flares, as opposed to just turning off like it does rn in game.

Mmm, i have some dissipointing news.

So, one of the reasons the AAM-3 is so manueverable, is its relaxed static stability.

So, i thought i’d change its distance of CoM to stability, to make it more agile like it should be.

…in game the center of deflection is always around the center of stability. So its impossible to model RSS, because the closer to 0 it gets the lower authority it has.

This, really really annoys me. With this kind of modeling it would almost be better to push the center of stability as far away as possible from the center of mass… But the thing is i cant bug report the game’s code for making this behave backwards as intended, pain.
