You didn’t accuse me of it but I want to make clear that CQB in definitely a big part of the game.
I think there are good close quater maps. I like Berlin or advance to the Rhein because they offer variety, don’t just consist of small alleys and you can’t lose track as quickly.
Meanwhile Sweden is way too big and you can always get flanked by any of the way too many alleys. Not that it shouldn’t be possible to flank but at that map you quickly lose all overview over the map, it’s completely random where an enemy might be.
90% of this map is cut-off and there are some unused areas which I assume were meant for the cancelled PvE mode. There are some wooded areas that are completely modelled and off-bounds for some stupid reason as well. I remember when you could go on the bridge and bypass the city, but that meant actually playing the game with your brains.
Same for American desert, we can barely play on 1/4 of the map when in reality it is a huge arena, with sand dunes and mountains which are drivable in custom missions. Such a shame…
I enjoy Sweden, but I like to corner camp with my engine off. Even then, it’ll typically end with one side camped within their spawn.
It is, but I agree that:
Is totally unnecessary. The original map already offers enough CQB opportunities. I feel like maps like Eastern Europe and Fields of Normandy balance this out pretty good. Players wanting CQB can engage in that (or those with vehicles more suited for it), while the flank offers plentiful opportunities for others.
Another example that does this super well is Test Site. The more I play that map, the more I appreciate it. Basically every vehicle type can approach that map in its own way and still contribute to an objective. It’s not my subjective favourite map to play, but I see it as the absolute gold standard of theoretical map design tbh
Agreed. I think it’s totally okay, though, if some maps are more open and some are a bit more urban, so there is variety. But they should always be balanced to some degree.
Not every map should be like that but for what it is it isn’t a bad map.
Let’s have faith in Gaijin. I know this kind of rhetoric isn’t very popular but in all fairness, I don’t think Gaijin isn’t interested in improving the game.
We need to convince them that some things should be changed. This game is very complex, so things take their time.
This is a 13 year old game and its been stagnant for most of that time. They’ve had plenty of time to listen to player feedback. There are countless suggestions on this forum, many of which are several years old, that would do nothing but improve the game but they get actively ignored. There have been small changes, graphical updates, and bug fixes, but gameplay itself is neglected. Its frustrating to see players make an interesting gameplay suggestion on the forum only to see that its years old and not implemented. But hey, more decals, body pillows, and vehicles that didn’t even see production amirite?
I can’t place all blame entirely on the developers. A large majority of player base feeds into it by constantly buying and asking for more, which in turn encourages the neglect towards gameplay. They often actively oppose or downright ignore flaws as long as they’re getting new content and at the end of the day, nothing changes.
It’s not like the playerbase speaks through one voice. No matter what issue, there will be plenty of players ignoring, as you said, or even approving literally any issue imaginable.
But yes, Gaijin has focused way too much on bringing out new content in the past decade.
Because Gaijin taking the easy route and since majority of the playerbase refuse to learn map and just park their tank in the nearest snipe spot to take pot shot at each other for quick kill
They are doing the same thing as their “counterpart” Wargaming, who also having problem with sniper spot and hulldown along with no flank route and that is killing their game.
We need to remove Scout from the game , I don’t care if it unrealistic because it is extremely harmful to the game. Puppies afraid that they might get shot if they push up 10m from their sniping spot , knowing LT can just lol pin point their position make it even worse.
Blaming gaijin 6 and the playerbase 4. They have molded a large chunk of the playerbase into the “I snipe in everytank possible”. You don’t understand the frustration seeing T series and the chinese tank trying to snipe just to die because they expose their underbelly.
This is not a problem that can be fixed with a thread or two. When the majority of the plaerbase are being well fed with overprice premium one after another. The best part ? They all can snipe and have good turret armour. I wonder where they get this idea from.
I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years, and any faith I had in Gaijin has completely vanished. In my opinion, and as experience over many years has shown, they’re only interested in making money, and they do everything for that purpose, not in improving the game. The project is commercial, and anything else is alien to them.
