Because it now gives more useful info, yeah no protection is worse than seeing the old numbers but this is objectively better for the rest of the game especially air
Do you really need a reminder that M1 Abrams has a laser range finder? Do you need a reminder that T-80 has a Laser range finder or ERA? Did you suddenly forget that the SU-30SM has a radar or rwr or ballistic computer?
This is binary information that you only need to see once. Armor is more important and varies in thickness. You only needed to hover your mouse over the jumbo and you would know how thick the turret is, even mid-battle.
How is it useful now that is says “Steel armor”?
Objectively this is a bad change because it removed useful information in favor for useless one that you only need to see once and it’s not even detailed.
Yes I would like to know that the t90m has relict ERA while the t80u has CONTACT 5, I do like knowing that the pantsir sm sv has a 80 degree vertical search while the adats is irst, it is good info to see that the f18 has K band coverage

Also, how does it help you that is says it has Relict or Contact? You still have to go to x ray viewer to know the difference.
Before, at a glance you can see an incorrect assessment of a vehicle’s armor.
Then thinking it was correct you bounce on a shot that was understated on the statcard.
Or you get penned on your tank because it over-stated something.
It was a bad feature that misled ten-thousands of people.
And almost all of “How did he pen me!?” comments.

Or maybe they just provide the TOTAL value of the armor in the card… which is enough information for the glance.
Anyone can go the extra steps IF THEY WANT to get more detailed info.
Currently all the extra stuff they added, like ammo type names, are not very useful to many people.
Heck, there are ammo, within the same vehicle, that have names that are almost indistinguishable. Not very useful IMO.
Adjusting the card info to cater almost solely to top tier players, who already know most of the info anyway, just causes issues for everyone else. Change was not needed.
Bring back sound mods. Gaijnin is in a decline.

Oh hey, my take.
The fact the new system is better for new players than old players is a good change.
You and I are old, we have pre-existing knowledge.
New players coming into the game know nothing.
They’ll believe what the statcard says at face value and get a negative experience.
If the statcard shows a feature that lets them study armor, that’s a positive experience.
Why do you insist on missing the point? You can go to armor analysis for detailed armor layout, but the statcard provided quick rough estimate that was valuable. If i look through a tech tree, for example France, i could’ve gotten a rough idea of their heavy tank armor, now i have to manually go to armor analysis for each one.
And you say this is a good thing because now you can see that abrams and t80’s have laser range finder. ok

This is where you are 100% correct. All this new info should’ve been exactly what you said, an addition. Instead it’s a replacement, a very poor one.
