There is NO reason for a 9.7 Hunter to have literal Maverick’s that out range EVERY SPAA IN THE BR BRACKET.
There is no reason for SPAA to have AP at all, let alone APDS.
There is no reason for the Yak130 to have guided bombs at 9.0.
JUST BECAUSE IT COULD USE IT, DOES NOT MEAN IT NEEDS IT IN GAME.
Because you can’t balance around giving a vehicle a way over powered Missile or bomb, While being a bad platform.
you just can’t.
You end up with people just getting farmed because we physically can’t SHOOT DOWN the vehicle before it nukes us just after take off or something.
TV guidance tracking range is 3 - 5km.
SPAA range at 9.7 is 5 - 7km.
Yak-130 only has guided bombs at 9.0 for air RB, it’s 9.3 in ground, which is where 5+ other jets have guided weapons.
SPAA with APDS/AP is worse than all MBTs of their BR, no exception.
None of these are OP.

yeah sure…
Not like i’ve been bitch slapped by The Mavericks from that Hunter before i can even get a Lock with my stingers on my Stormer AD. Or before i can even get a Gun solution from my radar.
yeah totally,
On the flip side Gaijin denies vehicles their historical weaponry for “”““balance””“” so no one is fully happy.
Self defence. I do agree that SPAA API-T rounds are too powerful, additionally those proposed APHE changes wouldn’t have been a big enough nerf to be worth adding just to fix the SPAA issue.

Then you got ambushed, and I’m sorry you were ambushed in that manner.
I’ve had that happen to me at least once, and I’ve had other skill issues, and I’ve seen aircraft not know a SACLOS missile was inbound cause IR locks don’t trigger RWR.
Edit:
I apologize if any of this causes you undue stress.
Also, I don’t play CAS.

Eh… Actually, I think there is a valid reason for this.
SPAAGs need to get closer to be effective, they cant sit back in relative safety like a lot of SAMs can. So they need to be able to defend themselves when they go closer.
It gets really messy sure, something like the Falcon was high because it had good anti-tank performance but because it was high, it needed good anti-tank performance so that it could be aggressive and stick close to the team, because for a while, it was at the same BR as most Radar-assisted SPAAGs without any radar itself.
Hunter F58 though is probably a little low, especially when you consider Hunter F6 is at the same BR with only unguided weapons, no RWR and no CMs. (let alone aircraft like the Harriers)
Yak-130 and A-4s should be higher in GRB too.

If they gave them back their damn scouting they could do more without AP.
IDK why in the hell they took the scouting away from things like the Stormer AD.
The Stormer was quite fun to use a Pseudo Light tank and scout around, while you waited for planes to spawn.

That I would agree with. If nothing else, SPAA is reactive, if there is no aircraft, you are basically AFK. Sitting on a ridge doing some scouting is better than being AFK. Its why I like the Rapier and Stormer HVM.
Id actually take that one step further and wonder if some/all over a certain BR should also get a recon drone.

Funny the Yak-130 also ends up being an example of this.
When was it ever used to engage another armored vehicle?
When was it ever used to do ANYTHING other than just exist?
Like i said: JUST BECAUSE IT HAS IT IRL, DOES NOT MEAN IT NEEDS IT IN GAME
The entire point of his post was even though they could have/use(or used) something, it shouldn’t just be given it. The XM246 was trialed with HE-VT and could use the same APDS as the other 35mm AAs, but it didn’t get either.

I mean possibly in Ukraine lmao not in German service. But it used the rounds
Literally training. There wasn’t a need for it in German service other then self defense
Yea no lmao gepard should keep it’s apds belts as its literally for self defense against tanks and armoured vehicles. Plus just remember Gepard could get fapds what is apds but the entire belt

Unless I’m wrong what I could be the feeding mechanism wasn’t the same with xm246 and couldn’t actually use the apds (kinda like the bmp2)

Just because it’s called SPAA shouldn’t force players to only use it in that role. The game doesn’t represent military tactics, just technical capabilities of vehicles, and the 35mm autocannons just so happen to be very good multi-purpose weapons with variants of them also used in IFVs like the Type 89.
If it’s really that much better in an anti tank role than anti air they can always just change it to a light tank for SP balance like they did for the 2S38 (SPAA called light tank in game).
