Gaijin wtf

Uptiers

Can someone tell me how I in a 11.7 plane with not a plane higher then 11.7 in my team STILL managed to get into a 12.3 game which was filled with F14?? Thats not how uptiers work in my mind or has it changed??

That isn’t supposed to happen as far as i know, do you have a screenshot of the match or a replay?

got a ss of the teamlist?

Matchmaking is -/+ 1.0, 11.7 is well within range of 12.3.

13 11.3 vs 3 12.3s and 4 12.0s

the guy who j’d out, what was he using?

4 12.0s then
By the way they lost 2 12.3s due to TK and crashing in airbase :P

no idea, I’ll take another look, don’t think he joined until I died to magic 2.

Huh, that’s interesting.

Happened multiple times although I do know as long as uptier is within 1.0 and no more than 4 1.0 downtiers are 100% within game rules (balancing wise no) but 0 down tier on 1 side is a bit…

I’ve gotten used to fighting F-16’s in the JA37C, even post nerf, it’s quiet the challenge though.

I always though that the matchmaker tried its absolute hardest to put the same amount of up/down tiered players on both teams to balance the sides as equally as possible.

problem is about Spam and number of player in lower BR,… the game is not handling such case well

Number of 12.3s for china and USSR/Russia is relatively small since China 12.3 is just JH7 which is like same stuff as F5ECU but 1.0 BR higher and Soviet has 0 vehicles there.

I be praying for J35XS to stay alive when i see it against F14s.

Does this mean that Gaijins failure to see the big picture when introducing vehicles has truly bitten them on the ass now and we have this? The matchmaker is really struggling to make a game out of what is available?

It is the problem of some nations, although everyone wants decompression (including me) it will make the matter worse unless addition to vehicles at certain BR such as 12.3 for China and USSR might help. This is when there are tonnes of Persian Tomcats so might be less often next patch.

What exactly I thought when I opened up J7E last patch and died to AIM54s 3 times in a row lol although 0 reason for J35XS to be higher BR than J7D. Could do well though still with J35 if you just play rat and stick to the floor, try and dogfight isolated targets or sneak on unaware base bombers who are probably watching youtube and flying in a straight line.

The only rule the matchmaker use is that at most 25% of the players in one team can have the max BR in the battle.

So for example, if we have a 6.0 - 7.0 BR battle and there are 4 vehicles in total at 7.0 BR, the placement of these 4 vehicles will be random. There is a chance the Blue team will get 1, 2, 3 or 4 of them (the Red team will get the rest of course). But there is no rule that they will be divided equally between teams. And by the way, that’s one of the reasons why you sometimes see one team completely dominating the other.

I saw some players try to explain this by different nations, but it’s certainly not related only to nations, because the same thing happens in Arcade battles, where nations don’t matter and can be mixed. The matchmaker still doesn’t even try to balance battles by BR.

For example, you can check this matchmaker:

This one is even worse (check 19:05):

These are Arcade battles that could easily be much better balanced, but the matchmaker don’t even try to do that, it just puts vehicles randomly into teams. For this reason, in some battles the outcome is known even before the battle begins.

But the fact is that in most cases the vehicles will be split pretty evenly (there is less chance that all top BR players will be placed in one team), but this is just statistics, there is no rule for it.

EDIT: I found my first topic about this problem on the old forum:

At the time I thought this only happened in Naval game mode, but that’s not true. It’s simply more clearly visible in Naval, because there are less players in the queue. So if the matchmaker can only find 4 top BR players for a 16v16 battle, it will place them randomly in teams. But if it can find 8 top BR players, it will be forced to place them equally in both teams (maximum 25% of top BR players in one team rule, so 4 top BR players max in the same team). The bottom line is that the matchmaker in this game is very bad.
