Perhaps, but you cant win matches if you just always run away.
Well, Skyflash is basically AIM-7E-2, so maybe it is debatable whether it is good for 13.0 or not.
Some people think it isn’t, while you and some might think it is.
Maybe it is part of personal preferences?
Yeah ,exactly. So unless they start selectively fixing BOL, everything will get buffed including the Gripen if/when they restore BOL to even its former glory and even then, it was underperforming.
If the amount is too much reduce the number of BOL pods, but nerfing BOL entirely was the worst balancing thing they have ever done
I dunno, i definitely can when im normally playing with my Wingman and he just launches a R27ET at anyone dumb enough to follow me.
Anyone playing like they’re in a F5E at 13.0 isn’t bound to end the match in anything less than a burning wreck. Being too narrow sighted leaves you open from all ends
id rather have a skyflash than a 7m/f at 13.0, i’ve noticed that people have a harder time rolling skyflashes sub 5 km than 7m/7f because of the ridiculous acceleration
how is the AIM-7E-2 when paired with a radar better than AN/APQ-120?
yeak 11.3 missile at 13.0. Its nothing compared to tthe aim7m or the er or even the 530f
Skyflash DFs are only really effective out to 10-12km. Id not really risk anything higher than that unless I was high and fast. But against a Aim-7M, Skyflash ST and especially R-27ER, you dont stand a chance and thats just SARH, with ARH in the mix as well? You wont be BVRing.
Back when the Gripen C was first added to Britain, I use to run 2x Skyflash because sometimes you could catch someone out that could defend against an Aim-9M but not a SARH, but these days, I think the most you need is just the 1. At least that is probably what I would run on the Gripen A, perticuarly as you have to give up a BOL rail per Skyflash you take
That is one of the takes of all time lmao
sparrows themselves are still easy to notch, so they’re not good against anyone that knows what theyre doing, but if they’re occupied or you face the average player (like 80 percent of the player base) they just eat it sub 5 km
sea level at least that’s stretching it, I would never launch a skyflash past 8 km sea level personally
so when its on a radar with look down shoot down, it can compete with 7M?
I managed to win a 1v3 in the SAAF Gripen C before and the F-15E that was the last guy tried running away but I was somehow gaining on him and then he turned to engage me so badly that it was basically a free kill. Thankfully, most players are too dumb to fight against something like the Gripen A/C properly
same seekerhead as 7m/f, MUCH better acceleration/top speed (but it’s super short ranged comapred to 7m/f) and it’s harder to out roll because of the speed
gripen having lower twr than euro can quack me doggles, the f-5E has lower TWR than mig21 bis and it maims it any day, the F-4E has lower TWR than the Tornado and it spanks it even in rate fight, the F7F has lower TWR than the Ki83 and yet it catches up and out dogfights it above 400 IAS. It’s still a ridiculous aircraft that still has a ridiculous thrust weight ratio and has the better BK27 rounds of the bunch,
German Bordkannonne has 75 percent AP belts on all variants, while Swedish Bordkannone has 50 percent HEI, 25 percent APHE and 25 percent HVAP which grants higher velocity than the dumb starter tracer on german BK27.
Gaijin isn’t babying sweden, if anything it’s been made worse by the new 14.0s. As for the T18, its probably a skill issue on their part.
Well, i repeat again, why is Sweden getting a frontline bomber that can outdogfight 109s and xp50s, the best g6 109, the best g2 109, the j35xs which is just a tad worse than the j7d because of lack of flare count, the 11.3 J37 which is a very strong aircraft and the gripens.
why would it not have lower thrust to weight than euro. it’s basically a worse euro, including in a dogfight
i have beaten eurofighters on f-16 and yak41, yet to do so with yak41 even using vtol against gripen. What I meant is that thrust weight ratio does not decide whether a plane is a good dogfighter or not. Look at teh ta152H, that thing climbs worse than a p400 and yet it turns almost like a spitfire.
In the FGR2 I usually average around 10km ish, as thats just far enough that I can force something like a Mig-23MLD onto the defensive before hes within his effective range of about 8km, though id never fire a SARH at something low from low alt. So thats usually at least 5-10k ft. Something a little faster, and something where i oculd give it a little manual loft. 12km would probably be my absolute max in the Gripen. (Usually use the Skyflash DF in SB and so exact ranges are impossible to really get. So its “roughly” 10-12km based upon looking at the radar display)
in my experience it’s super easy to kill 141s in grippy, you just giga rate around them at .8 mach and then just pull in and blast them outta the sky, they just sit in place and do nothing most vtol jets
so you’re just proving my point right, thank you.
