I don’t know why people use the A-10 against bases - there are much more viable options available in the US tree for that role, e.g. the A-7’s, or also the A-6 if one wants a premium. Or of course F-111 and F-4 in RB, as there their CCRP is actually working.
The A-10 is unmatched against tanks & co., but really not suited against bases, especially because of its speed.
Or - to maybe sum up my gripe with such discussions and how I feel about that topic:
- If your aim is to complete a specific mission/job/role, fly the aircraft that’s best used for it.
- If your aim is to have fun with a specific aircraft, fly the aircraft in game modes / missions / roles where it can best be used.
Basically all the discussions about how suitable thisandat is in thisandat mode boils down to this question.
I think its the Subsonic + Aim-9L in this context, which is pretty much the only reason the Buc S2B is 10.7 and not 9.7.
But yes, when Buc S2B is compared to something like the F-111A, it just stands no chance in doing its “intended” job
If you make that comparison, neither is anything else… ;-)
Not in RB at least. Situation looks quite different in Sim as there we have more targets that also respawn more frequently.
It Is Unplayble
Issue is, im just not sure what they can really do short of removing the 9Ls and dropping it to 9.7 and even there, im not sure if it would be all that different.
No ground attacker is doing all that well at the moment, even in gamemodes like ASB where they have a bit of a role. That goes doubly so for aircraft where max weapons load should be a strength but the diminishing returns mechanic heavily mitigates that advantage.
Being a subsonic ontop of that really doesnt help either
Without significant changes to how ground attackers are handled/treated and a large scale decompression. I think its always gunna be a niche aircraft which only really exists for GRB… and even then… Its nearly been replaced by the Hawk 200 (would have been if not for the BR difference)
