Gaijin needs help designing maps

Gaijin needs sooooo much help designing a good map! Gaijin needs to open up a map design sandbox challenge to the players and let us design and then vote on which ones WE want to accept and play on! You cant really tell me that it couldn’t hurt to do this at this stage of the less than stellar map designs we are currently getting!

Player made maps can be exceptionally good in other games, but would probably require a native map builder. So its tricky. But yes, Gaijin could certainly do with a round of community consoltation withwise of map design. I dont think any of their recent ground maps or map changes have been well received,

None have. Attica has been by far one of the worst and I’ve been noticing more and more maps being magically cut off. With borders rather than just being completely redesigned. Ex: Where the hell did White Rock Fortress go? Generally, I considered it a fun map. Since you would need to defend from 2 directions and 2 sub-directions. Meaning players had to by force think defensively not blindly charge.

Yeah, I remember having a lot more fun a year or 2 ago withwise to map design than I do these days. I miss old Tunisia and Sands of Sinai

More i think about it Gaijin had better maps back then than today.

Yeah, I feel like they lost their original team of map makers and the current set have dropped the ball.

Gets even worse when you look at other gamemodes. Havent had a new Air EC map in over 2 years

Doesnt neccecarely have to be a proper player made map, people could always use something like unreal to create the map maybe then do a video showing it off, Doubt it would be that hard for the designers to follow the map design from that. Maybe a video cutting through the map showing it off with a sketch of it simplified etc?? just an idea(Unless they gave us what they use to design them I think giving us a pre-made one would take a bit to long is all)

Yeah, that could work. But the main game that comes to mind when I think “community made maps” is/was starcraft 2. How that worked was maps could be shared in game and the most popular got upvoted and eventually added to the map roster.

So, I have no idea how a game like WT could do it, but yeah, something needs to happen at the very least. Current map design has been aweful recently.

i mean bohemia Interactive who did arma 3 literally made a tool for us to use and said “here have at it and if we like it we will add it” which they did lol + from that people also made new mods and also Dlc’s in which bohemia sponsor in a way and then basically make it part of the game, Like a team made a cold war era mod and one made a vietnam mod and they liked it so much they turned round and said “hey rather than make a new thing from scratch what you say we add your mod to our game and you get the profits” so its now literally part of the game(what Im tryna say is they should let the community help then if they like it do a check and ask the person if they can add it but sadly I doubt thatd happen)

So Attica having long-range engagements like Sands of Sinai is bad?
Uh oh, you’re about to prove the pro-CQC crowd correct.

I think Attica is great, a unique challenge.

@Morvran
Old Sands of Sinai was pretty bad due to the CQC section IMO.
Old Tunisia had too many spawn to spawn advantage in the south spawn.

All I will say about map’s is this, they have some long-range ones yes but that doesn’t mean crap when the rotation continues to give small cramped ass maps at top tier, Ill get maybe 3-4 long range ones out of all my matches every fortnight or so. Then I go and look at clips like this where CONSUMERS!! and fans are making better/more fun maps and modes than the developers… Not saying having this 24/7 would be good etc Its more options though(Example below)

Gaijin should do map design bounties so that good designers have an incentive
@Stona_WT why’d u close this thread? this is a legitimate concern from us players
