Different sources.
Unfortunately i don’t have sources for the AIM-120 but if i had i would have list it upthere
If these can hit a maneuvering modern fighter at 40km surely they should be able to hit a drone at 100km, why wouldn’t that be mentioned? That’s an impressive statistic.
I think i’d still use my ADATS after the update if the SLAMRAAM turns out to be shyt.
To be fair, Pantsir was moved to 12.0 around the same time its effective range went from 13km to 16km.
People forget that Pantsir’s current missile capabilities are from the September 2024 update, it was worse from introduction in 2023 to that major update in September 2024 and more in-line with the fixed ITO-90Ms.
Of course now Pantsir’s alright and pressures IR AGM carriers a little, not enough to make Pantsir vs CAS balanced, but enough to make CAS play smarter.
ADATS being over-BR’d is another issue.
Object 279 is currently over-BR’d. It’s an IS-7 with slightly less armor and a stabilizer.
@MrBombastic8
Kh-38MT and Hammer using fictional IR seekers is its own issue. And the suspicions regarding Kh-38MT’s functionality itself is another issue.
Whataboutism.
The currently known things that we (a group of players, not Gaijin, i don’t speak for Gaijin on these things and i am on the same level as other players in this regard) have found credible sources on is an effective range of 40km with an effective altitude of 20km (not max). There is also a couple of sources that talk about a showcase of the system where one of the shown firings was a realistically evasively maneuvering target at 30km distance and 12km altitude that got hit after 60 seconds.
If you want more sources and information that we have found you can read this thread: (Iris-t slm)
Edit:
The bad thing about that 30/12/60 source though is that it doesn’t really state enough information about the target to be useful enough on its own to draw any hard conclusions.
:(
There is also the aspect of players in game being superhumans compared to real life even in RB. Like we pull 13g like it nothing, immediately know the exact direction of launches thanks to things like 3rd person view etc. I assume its a lot easier to shoot down an actual pilot than a WT one.
What does that have to do with this?
We are talking about effective ranges of hitting a target? How does the unrealistic manner people fly planes in this game not play into that?
And we have this for it’s actual max range, being 50km for it’s max range and 25km for it’s max altitude
It doesn’t at all for setting the stats of the missile.
The question is are they more capable than Pantsir or not.
Or maybe most 8.3s and 8.7s are under-BR’d… either way this topic about SPAA having issues on dev server and fictional claims about bias are my primary issues here.
Forgot to address this as well. If there’s a delta-velocity issue then I either expect bug reports in general.
Oh, and Abrams armor isn’t Gaijin’s fault. People need to stop blaming game devs for not finding and using classified information.
If we are basing it off claims made by manufacturer/gov that are testing them in real world scenarios it does. I’m not saying the missiles are modeled right, but if someone finds they can hit a fighter at 40km, its going to be less than that in WT. We react faster, we pull unrealistic G, we have afterburners on 24/7 and fly at way higher speeds than normal constantly.
If it is not sustaining as long as it should, if the drag is modeled incorrectly that is fine and should be fixed.
Well, the armor needs 1 button and 1 mouse, and the new AA needs 1 button
Not really, that doesn’t really matter (in my opinion). As long as the system is modeled after credible sources the rest of the balance should in my opinion be in BR placement. Bringing up other systems as comparisons wont at all further the finding of sources and corrections of the in-game vehicle and missiles, it just creates side discussions and draws people of topic.
It’s definitely is when they can’t fix a single issue called the turret ring for years now and letting people suffer
Correct, i never said it should “perform” the same in war thunder. But comparatively (as it was in DEV) it took almost two minutes flying straight to even reach 30 km to begin with, compared to sources claim of one minute to 30 km while maneuvering. At least the speed and range should be modeled after sources but not the probability of kill as that wont really translate as you say. I haven’t claimed that either.
It does matter because people expect the new SAMs to counter the KH38MT issue which been for a year now, the only SPAA that can counter it is Pantsir and from the tests that been made in dev server it proved that the new SAMs aren’t capable against KH at all and SU34,SU30SM can stay out of range and launch with no problem at all.
