Gaijin bring back SA server only search again!

I think you should thank those who abused it to get in games 1v1 + bots and just speedfarming, atleast tanks and naval from what I saw

From Australia (near Melbourne) to Europe server:

Much better routing these days (depending on your ISP as discussed above).

the SA servers are just abysmal to connect to from London. I cant even select the servers to show you the normal ping but SA players usually suck enough that i can hold my own decently enough. Guess its another reason to add to the “reasons to move to Hong kong” list, bad players for easy sealclubs.

you must have a crazy pc to be getting 340fps, i usually plateau at 180fps with a 3060 12gb

London to Japan, hmm would be interesting to see what path your ISP is taking, indeed.

5800X3D + 9070XT @ 1440p. I jumped into an ARB game to get that ping screenshot. In ground when the battles are all raging it’ll be lower. I should probably cap the FPS, since I don’t even need it that high, lol.

5900X 128gb ram and a 3060 12gb myself. Top end GPUs are monsters nowadays, almost enough to compensate for bad optimisations eh?

will save your power bill and make your room less of a sauna trust me there

That’s bad.

Are you using wifi or are you hardwired to your router?

I get 200-210 on US stable. I’m also on 2degrees so that’s like, even worse for everything. Ethernet linked to the modem.

i use ethernet cable. im also with contact

Dang, yea, that’d be trouble.

From there ‘Devoli’ is the one who does your actual internet, and they also have terrible reviews.

My ping is 70/30 150-250 and 400+

One thing I’ve noticed about Kiwi ISPs, there isn’t much focus on quality for gaming, how good their upstream providers are (‘GSL’ = good for us), etc, on the ISP pages I’ve seen. Meanwhile in Australia:

Mines fine, but these ‘power and phone/internet’ combo ISPs are just trash, and that’s where the real issue lays.

I picked my provider knowing that I needed something direct, not something cheap and bundled.

I also know where our internet goes out from the country, and only play US servers because SAs route is bad.

Like, hell, I even got fibre to my door in a rural area because I was pushing the cable guys to get it.

Kiwi here, I rarely use SA servers because 90% of the time the autoselect ONLY selects SA, not US which is what I prefer due to the quick matchmaking times, not to mention the quality of SA servers being… subpar at the best of times. In US servers I generally get between 250 and 320 ping with Ethernet, and on the odd occasion I do EU it’s usually around 340 - 350 so definitely playable, but I would love to be able to select SA servers as well.

Are you on a power/internet combo provider, or a genuine?

As I said before, I’m on 2degrees, on fibre, and through ethernet.

You on DSL/VDSL/Fibre?

Like with OP, that ping is unacceptable for New Zealand to USA - East or West coast.

What is the Kiwi equivalent of Whirlpool?

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/

That is where us Aussies usually discuss what ISPs are good and who are subpar.

I’d hazard a guess they also share that Devoli.

I think gpforums.co.nz is the main place, but that’s just old as everyone is on discord, reddit and just not as major as it was back in the day.

It’s honestly not even that bad

This is built entirely on bias and discrimination

Cheers. Seems like this Geekzone has been a place to discuss these topics in the past, too:
