Yes, it’ll be the Kuwaiti Desert Warrior’s equivalent to the FV511 ICV
Presumably the table an map board being on the other side relates to it having the pneumatic door instead of the basic clamshell doors we have on FV511s
+1
Very nice, didn’t think it would already be out
Aaaaayyyyy nice work everyone getting that fixed
Any increase in protection against autocannon rounds? Might become more viable to go face-on vs Marder 1 or BMP-2.
I can confirm this is a massive difference to its protection, no autocannon round from what I tested is able to get past the power pack to the crew, even on the warrior.
Nice
What’s the full protection map like? Can you compare Live and Dev?
Oh damn that’s 40mm APFSDS
Watch it go to 9.0
The protection map just says it penetrates since it gets through the armour, but it doesn’t hit the crew.
I was surprised that the power pack was able to stop the Swedish 40mm APFSDS and I was even more surprised when it could do it from 0m
this one lists 7 TOWs stored?
Yes but it’s from a tabletop combat game, not a viable source.
Yeah, really wish I could find where they are getting those numbers from :(
Honestly they could comfortably add 2 extra missiles, or maybe even 4 for a total of 2+6, the M3A3 (currently) sits at the same BR and has 2+10 missiles compared to the DW’s 2+2
Edit: yea the BMP-2M is at 10.0 with 4+4, and the Strf 9040 BILL is 2+6 at 10.0 as well. Dardo and VCC are both 2+6, The 9.3 Bagel gets 1+5, but the Type 89 at 9.0 gets 2+2… yeah 2+4 definitely doesn’t seem like it would be a balance issue, and you can probably argue that 2+6 is the “standard” for an IFV at that BR
Has it received its thermal sight yet? It should have one, at least a 1st generation TI. There was a proposal in 2009 to upgrade to 2nd generation, but I’m not sure if it was carried out.
Are army-technology and army-guide related?
No. Not sure who Army Guide report to but Army Technology is a separate network.
Worse than this even, the Milan mod we have was specific to 5 vehicles during Op Granby (Desert Storm). After that they were removed from the turret and were just used with dismounts until replaced by Javelin (also used by dismounts). Our warrior should have zero thermals. The MOAV had a gen1 thermal sight replacing the commander’s sight (Osprey), but the increased size of the sight meant the gun was just a dummy gun.
Ideally the base warrior would be thermal-less and a lower BR (maybe with only Milan 1s for balance), progressing into the Desert Warrior and then leading to a Stormer 30, Warrior II (CSP), ending at an Ajax w/Javelin RWS and/or the Boxer with the export turret.
Well both websites say the desert warrior had 2+4 TOWs, not sure if that’ll be good enough for gaijin on its own but if they’re unrelated it’s a good start
There were Warriors with MILAN on the turret during Op Telic (2003 Iraq War) as well
Photo is an FV510 of the Scots DG battlegroup in Basra, 29 March 2003
Albeit Telic was still before BGTI, MILAN’s use in the British Army continued until stocks were depleted in 2006, and overlap the introduction of BGTI in 2004.
