FV107 Scimitar: Single-Edged Sword!

Those sights I know have thermals but I thought the old ones were also given some very basic thermals as well

I’ll refer you back to this post, it explains the generations of Scimitar very well.

Gaijin, little heads up for a few more reports in the near future:

Scorpion is next to identical to a scimitar other than primary armament so its usable as a source.

Already cleared with Gunjob that these two are ok for use as a source :-)

Anything interesting in those two handbooks :)?

Pretty much everything other than armour thickness

LEP scimitar and mk2 are in the files boys. Sabre is also mentioned

I am ready to throw out a load of reports to ensure we dont see a CVRT added like scimitar was initially ever again

BGTI is also there

They really need to close those shutters for the removed NV sight though

paste imgur urls into “google lens” (what used to be search by image) and it’ll show you a preview of the image anyway. Making a mockery of the government’s efforts to stop image hosts potentially showing adult content

The humble VPN

I just have my set to belgium or austria (Cause its close by and normally at the top of the alphabetical country lists lmao)

I’m guessing some will be event/prem/squadron vehicles, no way gj dumps all them in the regular tree right?

Super exciting though, does the BGTI get an LRF?

BGTI will be the same as Warrior, which was also equipped with BGTI.
IRL both ESPIRE (on the LEP) and BGTI had a laser rangefinder.
Gunnery on all Scimitars was manually laying the gun with hand cranks, but on BGTI when you lased stuff, the gunner’s reticle deflected to indicate necessary aiming adjustments for ballistic drop.
As far as I know the earlier SPIRE/ESPIRE was the same sort of fire control procedure, having been based on the Hughes/Raytheon HIRE gunnery system for LAV-25. However I haven’t got the same knowledge of ESPIRE gunnery as I do BGTI.
MSPIRE in Scimitar 235 and Mk.2 uses the gunnery system from BGTI
Note, the 2009 parliament publication called this version ESPIRE. However the system delivered 2009-2011 was actually called MSPIRE in service. ESPIRE (Enhanced SPIRE) was the mainline thermal imaging upgrade for Scimitars in the Formation Reconnaissance role since the late 90s in LEP, that was given some refinements over the HIRE/SPIRE sight UOR’d earlier in the 90s for use in the Balkans.

If I had to guess:

  • Sabre as event.
  • LEP or BGTI as either TT or Premium respectively.
  • Mk.2 as a 8.7/9.0 with APFSDS foldered with Badger.

Just need some Scorps to make an “oops all CVRT” line up

Im dreading having to convince gaijin that these sight systems dont disable a RARDEN gun and is just a sight because it really screwed the scimitar we currently have in the early days

will go perfectly with my “oops all cromwell” and “oops all firefly” lineups
