Fuel tanks

So I play soviet mbts as of now, and what I’ve noticed is that whenever I hit an enemy NATO tank’s fuel tank, they dont explode. However, when my fuel tanks get hit, they explode. I understand warsaw pact tanks don’t prioritize crew survivability, so does NATO tanks have some sort of protection on their fuel tanks that the warsaw pact tanks lack?

Upgrade vitality for your Driver, Gunner, and Commander. Better the crew vitality stat, the less likely your fuel tanks are to explode. However, if your tank doesn’t have a Loader for example, do not upgrade his vitality stat, as it only applies to the specific crew member you upgrade.

I only run into that problem with the Abrams, luckily it has a massive weakspot under the gun, unlike the leopard, just never try to LFP an Abrams its not worth it, half the time you will get killed trying to do that when you can just bully the massive turret ring gap.

Apparently your crew vitality has nothing to do with fuel tanks exploding. I think one of the mods on here confirmed it

Does nothing. The chance is the same. Cause it causes your ammo to blow up as well in this case. Much less likely if that happens but mainly annoying cause they technically ‘missed’ their shot by only firing at your driver but then u still die.

Depends on if the fuel tank is in its own compartment or not, cause they do explode.

Interesting… I was told it did do something. Disregard it I guess.

I don’t think it does. I felt no difference between stock and expert crew.

That’s an oddity of russian technology. You hit a fuel tank of a T-34 or KV/IS and it takes decades for the fuel tanks to explode and destroy a T-72 or T-80…

External fuel tanks won’t explode and kill the crew. You can check which one is which in the x-ray.

Nooooope

You can find that the fuel tanks of NATO tanks are often separated from their members by partitions (such as the fuel tank above the tracks of the Leopard 2 series and the fuel tanks on both sides of the M1 driver). They are not non explosive, but in the game, fuel tank explosions do not penetrate the partitions, so their explosions do not affect the members. You can pay attention to tanks such as Leclerc and Type 10, whose fuel tanks are not separated from their crews, so they can also be destroyed by fuel tank explosions.
I think the current fuel tank explosion probability is too high. I would rather they catch fire than explode, which leads to at least one fuel tank exploding when the vehicle pened with many fuel tanks. For example, the KV series and the Chinese ztz96 series. The explosion probability of each fuel tank is calculated separately. Even if I improve the level of the crew and withstand the explosion of the first fuel tank, the explosion of the second fuel tank will still kill them.

The crew level does not affect the probability of explosion (at least I have not found any signs), but higher level will result in a higher crew HP, allowing them to withstand explosion once without dying.

Soviet tanks are fueled not with diesel or gasoline, but with hydrogen

No, they use nitroglicerin, obviously

And so that the fuel tanks do not explode, it is necessary to introduce a mechanic for filling the fuel tanks, where it will be possible to set from the current dangerous levels to 100%

In spite of IRL being quite well partitioned from the crew in the case of Leclerc, but that would make French tank more survivable so not allowed.

Russian tanks run on Diesel, Diesel doesnt explode
