Frustrated with BR 8.0 ground AB

Hi guys. I’m a rookie player grinding my first ever ground tree which is Germany. I just recently unlocked my Leopard I tank , going from BR 7.3 to BR 8.0
I’m not a bad player in my opinion. i usually had no problem getting 3-5 kills in each match in my previous BR (7.3) but after upgrading to 8.0 everything has changed since i basically entered modern era.
unlike before , i can barely and rarely get a kill. leopard I has minor armor and APDS rounds for start which makes up for a very hard and frustrating time for me. one-shoting targets with APDS isn’t possible unless you hit the ammunition. most of the time even when i finally manage to hit my target it can easily turn back and shoot me because my round didn’t damage anything critical. or even when i do manage to critically damage them , my teammates come and steal my kill. sometimes i can hit a target several times without it being destroyed which is extremely annoying for me who is used to APHE shells. with APHE , one shot in the turret and your target is usually gone. however most modern tanks keep no ammunition in the turret so you can hit the turret with APDS as much as you want without them being destroyed. which is extremely annoying especially when only their turret is in sight.
long story short I’m extremely frustrated. sometimes to the point of rage-quit.
do you guys have any suggestions or advice?

I’m on the premium 8.0 loadout with France, Italy, and Sweden and can tell you about it.

Facing 8.7 and 9.0s constantly is unavoidable, because this blackhole BR. There’s no shortage of MBT-70 series users too, which is lower .3 compared to RB.

Ditch the light MBTs like Leopard, they are awful. They’re only useful as backup tanks.

Your best bet is the M48 series, because they are just armored enough to resist poorly armed APHEs and SPAAs.

Then try to get the light tanks like DF105.

The PZH and M109 are also good, they can destroy everything, even T-55AM1.

If you’re willing to go higher, the Gepard is also great fun, it can destroy light tanks like TAM easily and given prolonged time, even T-72 by shooting into the ground to bounce to the hull armor with APHE. I have the Type 87 and M246 which have similar playstyle and role. Moreover they are stabilized, allowing for machine gunning on the move and killing airplanes.

uhh play realistic?

Flank and go for vital components first like the Gunner and commander or breech.

Also how come you havent complained about the 35mm SPAA’s or XM800T?

Yeah SPAA’s are also a big issue

I can’t bro. its the whole point. if you see my conditions while playing Warthunder you honestly might lose your mind. my PC is a true potato. I play with ultra low graphics and 1280*720 resolution. the game window takes up like one forth of my screen. and its still laggy a bit. even playing arcade is a nightmare in this situation. you can barely notice tanks even 50 meters away. shooting is basically impossible without gunner vision unless your enemy is standing right next to you. so playing realistic isn’t an option for me right now.

thanks for the advice :)

Then perhaps before going up in BR, it might be better to go up in PC.

yeah good point but you know how this world goes.

PCs that are good enough for this are already in the junk. You can run this on 10 year old PC hardware really, unless it was bottom barrel in 2015. Myself, I use an i5 9600 from 2017. Used to run on GF 1070 from 2016. When my screen broke and I got a 4k, I had to replace the card. It was fine with HD resolution in medium though.

What hardware are you on?

Believe it or not but you actually seem to be performing on average with the playerbase with the Leopard I specifically.

Here are the player stats over the two last months for the Leopard I :

And here are your personal stats for the vehicle:

The Leopard I performs abysmally and probably needs to go down in BR in my personal opinion.

Edit:
Corrected some images for Arcade, i went to Realistic stats by default x)

yeah my hardware are also 10 years old
its a core i3 TM 3600 HZ
NVIDIA GT730
32 gigs of ram

Oh thank you. i appreciate your opinion.

You likely only need to replace this:

A used GF 960 or better should be cheap and quite helpful. I have used a 1070 until I switched to 4k last year.
Depending on your socket, you may get a 4 core i5 cpu for very little.

Indeed. You could probably get something like a gtx 1060 6gb for quite cheap and that used to run the game on high setting sabout 2-3 years ago. So it should run medium fine.

We just have to keep an eye on the PSU. We don’t really know what he has there, even a GF 1060 may need too much juice…

Yeah im surely thinking of an upgrade. im doing it bit by bit.
my problem isn’t really financial. where i live studying is hard. exams are harder. there is a super duper difficult exam you should take just to be able to enter a university. and my family isn’t really the most easy-going. they think upgrading my PC makes me play more which harms my results. and Im okay with that. I’ll probably upgrade to a better PC next year after my university entrance exam.
buy hey! i think we’re getting distracted. i’m already used to the pain. hardware isn’t my main issue right now.

You’re right. But I just did a bit of looking around and prople here are selling 1060 for 60€ and 1070 for 90€ . Even saw a couple full PCs at about 200€ that would run this game at high ssttings no issue. A dude was selling a pc with an i7 6th gen 16gb ram and a 1070 for 190€.

So unless you are really tight on money a relatively good pc that can run this game is not that hard to come yb.

read my reply on Dodo-Dud.

I think you are just starting to enter the BR where your hardware might be an issue. If you are not getting a stable 60+ fps once you start going above 8.0 and meeting fully stabilised tanks you will struggle. Believe me. I usually am not able to play on my PC on weekends so I sometimes play on my laptop. It runs the game on ULQ at about 50-60fps most of the time. If there is jot much happening. But it often drops performance significantly when a lot of explosions and such occur. This inconsistent and not as smooth gameplay really affects your ability to play well at higher tier. And that is mainly because fully stabilised tanks have so much shorter reaction times that a bit of lag and low fps can really screw you over. I don’t usually go above 7.0 on weekends because those BRs just don’t work as well on bad hardware.
