Frigate experince in Naval, too bad, needs back to boat respawns or have a new closer respawn point

Frigates are the worst role in the Naval, most of them are worse than DDs, but still need to respawn at the ship respawn point, which means you have to 100% against those DDs, even cruisers, and due to Frigates’ firepower being worse than most of DDs, so it is pretty hard to survive before you find any cover. Sometimes, for many Frigates’speed is pretty slow, so they can’t do anything like cap a point( Like HMS Spey) I don’t know why Gaijin just want to let Frigates and other high BR gun boats against big ships, they don’t have terpedo, no speed, with fewer crew members and firepower, but at the same BR with DDs

People’ve told this Gaijin for years, it seems they think frigats are fine.
Imo devs look at Coastal as at smth like “exclusive content”, the peak of which should be infinite grind and voluntary increase of game difficulty.
PS at least after a lot of time and complaints they decreased RN Ghibli br from 4.0 to 3.7, now it’s a bit more playable.

I’m trying to play HMS Spey, that’s too hard, I have spent 5 mins to the first point, and then the game is over…

I think that’s a pretty old issue that exists when the Naval TT was remade before. Gaijin has forgotten to redesign new maps for those high BR Frigate/Gun ships, and because some of them are overpowered before(such as SKR-7), Gaijin believe Frigates are strong enough, which shows they haven’t play these poor ships before.

The only thing the devs need to do to address “Frigate” type vessels are these ideas, I believe:

• 1st, remove AA from being able to target them.

I don’t understand what the devs see in the classification difference between a Frigate & a Destroyer/ or Cruiser, sometimes a frigate is heavier than the Destroyer that’s opening up on them with Light AA batteries. Meanwhile a frigates secondaries if they have them or their tertiary AA batteries will not target a destroyer or cruiser, it just doesn’t make sense tonnage wise especially when said LAA can strip a frigate of its crew in seconds…

“Sir, we’re under attack by that enemy ships AA”

“Than what are you waiting for? FIRE BACK GOD DAMNIT SAILOR!!”

• 2nd, redo the damage model for them all, I don’t understand why some of them a weaker when some are built to the same construction quality, hell the Type F120 frigates (Köln & Lübeck) for what’s a 2998t vessel gets stripped of crew quicker than some destroyers, hell I remember when a River class frigate could be decrewed by an AI motor boat with just an 12.7 mm MG (pretty sure one of my chat bans was from getting extremely angry due to that happening once).

• 3rd, their economy is dogshit, if you compare TT branches (except for a sloop, German Bias), the research costs are often ten times the costs of your adversaries, I often see people complain about facing OP frigates yet half the bloody time you’re running at a lose when you fire the first shells, yet those people are sometimes in incredibly powerful yet cheap vessels just down to where they’re placed in a tree.

The research costs should see heavy reduction, just because something is Rank IV & Rank V doesn’t mean it should cost 390k rp, 1.3M sl an yet fight things that are often superior yet cheaper.

Another thing is repair costs & ammunition costs, just examples say have a 20k sl repair on a 3.3 vessel that could easily be a starter vessel in another tree or having 50 sl (per shell)/ 6700 sl (per belt) for these late vessels (using extremes) than in the same bloody match on either team is a ships with the same cannons but only costing 1 sl (per shell)/ 30 sl (per belt).

Man that makes me laugh the Ayanami class Destroyer & Murasame class Destroyer, the former 6700k sl belts meanwhile the latter is 30 sl belts.

Still the Ayanami class Destroyer is probably the most powerful destroyer in game, heh the devs keep it at a fraction of its power by rating it a frigate…

Many of the repairs make little sense, most are at least semi decent nowadays yet all could get reduction across the board.

I still remember when one of the worst frigates in game (Tacoma class Frigate), a frigate so bad it could easily be placed in a boat spawn an still suck badly, had a 54000 sl repair cost when it was at elite status, the same frigate that cannot fire its cannons fore or arf & must turn to unsheath its armament to fire at opposition, the only forward defence is two 20 mm/70 & hedgehogs (600 metre mortars) an this thing had that repair??? (This was also when it only had 400 shells & a far far weaker damage model).

Yet this point can go for the whole TT branch.

• 4th, Battle Ratings, some need increases due to being powerhouse while some need reductions because they’re the definition of why do I exist? “You exist so you can extend a grind while also suffering through it” “OMG”…

Take example the Torpedo Boat Chidori, that’s what the class is historically & yet in game a Gunboat & a Destroyer (Destroyer tutorial classifies it as a destroyer strangely), it’s current BR is 3.7 for what I can only suspect is due to the 10× 25 mm, yet it sits at 3.7 while the closest vessels to it are the Japanese starter Destroyer Momi yet it only sits at 3.3 yet has a third main cannon, more torpedoes (Chidori used to have reloads, but were removed as the because they didn’t lineup with a deck access hatch), it’s faster than Chidori & it’s torpedoes are even faster.

Also at 3.7 it’s overshadowed by the cheaper Light Destroyer Matsu which gets three cannons (albeit HAA guns), more LAA (10 vs 25) & heavier deadlier & more torpedoes.

What’s the logic for the BR???

Similar the Torpedo Boat Ghibli is another such case, originally a 4.0, 3.7 (an cost me a mute for making a simple joke aimed at the devs about that original BR), it’s a two cannon ship, with some LAA & at least four torpedoes yet only two per side. Again why would we pick this over say the Destroyer Turbine at 3.3 with heavier cannons, more torpedoes (centreline ones) & faster (LAA is debatable for 3× 2pdr Vs 10× 20 mm).

The closest vessels in size are the Type 1924 & Type 1939 torpedo boats an yet those are Rank I (Bar Jaguar 1944 & T31) along with being better equipped in speed & armament yet are 3.7 since Day one (bar T31, strangely 4.0???).

Another is I would say the frigates armed with the AK-726 mounts (eg, Project 159 & Project 35) going to 4.7 but only if the ready rate nerfs were removed as currently those nerfs implaced on those cannons are quite torturous (reason I don’t use them & instead use soviet corvettes).

The Type 41 AD Frigate my beloved frigate could easily be a 4.3, same with the Restigouche class Destroyer, both if which are more fitting of that BR than the Peacock class corvette which absolutely sucks imho (TT one, the Orla is slightly more redeeming).

• 5th, correct classifications, bit of a nit pick but some of these vessels are confusing when the in game classifications controdicts the IRL classification.

▪︎ example: JDS Ayanami is a destroyer as seen by the hull number DD-103, its predecessor & successor are rated as destroyers in game, so why the difference?

The vessels rated frigate or gunboat include corvettes/ Small Anti-Submarine Ship (MPK), Sloops (K class as example), Offshore Patrol Vessels, Destroyers (Two), Ocean Escort (fancy yank word for DE/FF), torpedo boats, Kaibōkan.

I remember when the mode was first added, there were so many vessels classifications & they made sense given the vessel, now we’ve got things like the HMS Peacock a corvette labelled a subchaser (why is it a subchaser gaijin? How’s it meant to fight submarines? Where’s its depth charges gaijin?)…

Might as well just remerge the branches imho for some of these things.

Personally I don’t think all of them should’ve boat spawns, the exceptions could be the Project 2 SKR, The recent Cassiopea class OPV, the Élan class Sloop, Tacoma class Frigate, often I’m picking the furthest spawn just so I can have range against foes due to the terrible damage models even with quite slow vessels or just weakly armed vessels (anyone seeing me in RB NF lately might have noticed such, notably the Project 1124 corvette sorry YaSen, I was slightly upset when I downed your P-47 with a 9M33).

This has been a problem since like 2020.

If 5 whole years of “development” (adding new 3d models) isnt enough, then nothing is.

It’s unfortunate, but you’re sadly correct, we the players of these machines are often forgotten by the devs, they could fix so many issues yet sit an do nothing it seems (well they’re doing stuff, just not with these ships related).

Yea, sometimes we need to mention that over and over again to let someone notice. I’m not sure if any developer has tried to play with them and found that there are a lot of issues
