Proposed center of discussion for the French future in Infantry
France is no small player in the small arms industry. Pretty much since firearms existed in Europe. Obviously we’re not gonna have a 15th century BR, but the sheer amount of prevalence France has had in weaponry has not really ceased. The same can definitely be said for Belgium. If you don’t know, Belgium is home to Fabrique Nationale Herstal, or FN Herstal for short. With the announcement of Infantry coming to War Thunder, I think it’s important to have a place where these types of weapons are discussed, sourced, considered by the community, and brought to light. I do not think that there are many imports to be considered, to keep tech trees unique, but we will see
Small arms aren’t the only thing to discuss for French infantry. There are several camouflage patterns, ammunition types, body armors, helmets, and accessories for weapons. There are also different parts to weapons, such as the various scopes and barrels from PGM, to the SCARs of FN Herstal. This is also a place where such things should absolutely be discussed. Optics, helmets, body armor, extremely light vehicles, and other things likely present as modifications/squad types in War Thunder should be heavily investigated
Another thing to bring up is the way that France deploys troops. War Thunder’s Infantry Closed Beta Test has the Enlisted-Like squad, meaning that the various squads of the French Military in different eras are worth discussing and looking into. Currently it is unknown if this mechanic will change, or even be kept, or if it adheres to realism, but it is worth being apart of the discussion
Last is what War Thunder is best known for, the vehicles. In Enlisted, several vehicles not present in War Thunder, such as small bikes, are available. It’s unclear if this will be a thing in War Thunder, but once again it is worth bringing up. Similar mechanics that may be carried over is the ability to place stationary weapons.
The most crucial reason for this page to exist, is not only to discuss what France has, but also what makes it unique. While sometimes it can seem like a nation has something basic, something like an MP7 or other weapons that many nations in-game would own, they can vary massively based on which nation owns them, and the requests they made. It is extremely important that this new tree is treated with the care it deserves.
