I used to love playing as AA (probably a pretty rare opinion) but I was just really interested in AA vehicles once they got missiles but now after people die once half the team is AA with no concept of how to play them and it just means I do nothing all game. I think they should be a lower br vehicle because it seems ATM they roughly match or maybe a little lower than that matches br so other than some modifications it’s pointless bringing AA. also the worst part is when they lock and sometimes fire on something way too far away to hit and just end up scaring it off. so now no one gets any kills because the plane plays cautiously instead of continuing to make the mistake of flying towards the battle

That could be true even if the player in the AA was playing TT one.
Im glad because as much as i like playing AA, i like how i can finally play other tanks and have some AA coverage.

100% true, people have been jumping in SPAAs and dakka-ing at anything that moves for as long as I’ve been playing, I fly CAP when I get sick of CAS (so quiet often) and while loitering waiting for a plane to spawn its quiet common to see people 5kms away shooting at me with WW2 SPAAs.
Yeah, it may be worse for people that like to only play SPAAs, but it is FAR better for people that like to play literally any other type ground vehicles
And at top tier I like to sit in spawn for a little bit and watch the missiles launch, it’s pretty. and if the wind is just right, sometimes I think I can hear the enraged screaming of CAS players in the distance.

Well its either this or no team at all.
They are doing their job so random 600/800 sp su25/a10 doesnt fly above tank battlefield and nuke anything with s25o/agm65. Id prefer 1 scared jet over 1 dead jet and 6 dead teammates which he killed before dying.
Spaa gameplay isnt just about frags. Its about keeping cas and their munitions away from your teammates
this is true and it annoyed me before but it was a lot less common and really at top tier if you have TT aa the you know a thing or two so not only was it rare cause there were less but it was rarer per each AA vehicle because on average they were more skilled
did you read what is said? generally aa has better range than cas but they shoot out of range of both so instead of dead cas it’s alive cas who knows fly super low and target the AA by approaching from behind because they know they won’t kill anything by attacking head on. if they had some patience then they’d catch the plane with it’s pants down even before it has had an opportunity to release munitions
also many top tier SAM’s have CLOS missiles so don’t even need a lock to kill so the plane can be completey unaware a missile is coming but instead they lock it up the moment it spawns to give it a nice warning and a juicy target
Guidance aignal can be detected by certain RWRs tho.
either they get into an SPAA ot leave.

You wont catch cas (especially experienced ones) with pants down unless its some su25/su7/su17/su22 without proper optics. Tons of jets at br of free sams have either sights or tv/ir camera of guided bomb/missile. Which means they can click stabilization on spawn point and search for any aa there and around spawn. Thats what every competent cas player does.
That’s the beauty of it. Tankers enjoy their tanks, CAS get scared, fly low and waste time or target only SAMs first with both using every ammunition to counter ammunition like iron domes. Better they spawn or SAM than ODL honestly, even if they are free food to CAS. CAS will target them 1st, not the tanks.
As a SAM/SPAA player myself, I find the frustration too but at least no tanks are dying every game to CAS like before. Cant let Kh-38MT or other ammunitions hit our tanks.

The free AAA is a good change, and it is a feature which should be expanded to every BR ASAP. Likewise, we also need the feature that inspired this change - similar free Fighters and CAS that Naval has.
Then nobody can claim they are ever defenseless, because now everybody has the counters to CAS whether they and their preferences like it or not.
