You mean the civil war? It still hasn’t ended yet.
Thing was, the communist drew CKS, his KMT and most of his central governmental functionaries to Taiwan, but failed to get CKS to formally capitulate. So you have PRC that mostly succeeded the jurisdiction of ROC sans Taiwan, and a rump ROC gov’t who persisted on the island.
KMT continued to represent the whole of China (most of which already under PRC rule) till 1971, where PRC has since succeeded.
There has been nothing “diplomatic” whatsoever, unless you count the intervening powers overseas.

Then Israel makes more sense to receive India bc of their strong relations.
