Following the Roadmap: Vehicle Research Bonuses

Ignoring that the other 20% is finishing the aircraft off, thus no reduction.

Decrease from 130% to 100%.
Decrease from 60% to 40%.
Decrease from 100% to 80%.

If I only get 80% for taking an aircraft out of the game instead of 100%, that is a reduction.

You get 100%.
80 + 20 = 100.

Incorrect again. If I give a plane “severe damage” and another plane finishes it off I only get 80%. That is a reduction. If I crit an aircraft and another plane finishes it off I only get 40% instead of 60%, another reduction. Read the thread, the math is there.

Read the full post.

I did. All the math was laid out. Reductions across the board for kills, severe damage, crits and assists.

@AlvisWisla , @The4thAmigo you both are correct, but you are talking about two different situations.

When you cause severe damage to the enemy, you only receive 80% of the rewards with the new system (instead of 100% previously). But if the enemy crashes, j-out or you decide to finish the target, you will still receive that remaining 20%. So if there is no other player involved, you will receive 100% in both systems.

The only difference in the new system is the possible lack of an additional critical hit (33% of the kill score). In the old system you would get a kill plus an additional critical hit (133% in total). In the new system it can be a kill (100%) without that additional critical hit.

The situation changes, when there are more players involved. Because the severe damage mechanics only guarantees you 80%, it’s possible that someone else will finish your severely damaged target and you will never get the remaining 20%. In this situation you can lose 20%, because you didn’t finish the enemy, but also lose 33% from an additional critical hit.

You can see that score-wise, the removal of additional critical hit is actually the biggest problem with the new system. And we don’t even know if that’s the design (were these additional critical hits removed on purpose?) or just another bug that will be present in the game for many years to come.

So there is nothing to argue here, you just talk about different situations.

You know what’s suspicious, the lack of comments from YouTubers about this bonus. Most if not all of the bigger CCs just made a video about how the bonus works, without commenting on it too much - puzzling.

I would like to suggest an improvement for this; I would make it so that there’s a threshold of, say, 500 mission points.

Sometimes, you get mission points even for being hit; so even in that case the bonus would be lost for not being a 0 score match.

Here, for example, I was spawncamped by torpedo spam before I could do anything, and our team was absolutely stomped within a couple of minutes; but since I still got 96 score points because of a single hit on an enemy, my bonus for this match was wasted.

Just make it as WoT does, allow people to choose themself with a button to activate after the battle… its not that complicated.

Here’s another example;

I could do nothing; literally nothing! I spawned the plane and got wrecked by an AA before I could get even remotely close to the battlefield. Yet I got 2 score points… so the bonus was wasted like that.

We need a threreshold that’s not 0, because it’s literally impossible to end a spawn with 0 score points for the mere fact that even being hit or killed gives you score points.

Would this be considered, @Stona_WT ? I would suggest the minimum score point threshold to be 500 for the bonus to activate; in order to ensure that at least you’ve got a kill, an assistence or a zone capture… because, as of now, the whole bonus can be wasted just because you got 2 score points before being killed without having had a chance to do anything, as stated here;

Yeah, this was/is my concern with the “first few matches of the day” thing as well. The booster curse is real and sods law you have a terrible game(s) and then as soon as the boosters end, amazing game. Can almost gurantee it

Either that, or just give players the choice post match a

“Would you like to apply a X booster to this match?” option.

So would only be 5 matches per day, but you can pick and choose which 5 matches

I was quite optimistic about this change (5 instead of 3 battles, possibility of researching the VIII era). But in the long run it gives little. The “bonus” is so marginal that it does not motivate me to research other nations in any way.

This would be so much more beneficial if it was off total RP rewards instead of the base RP but alas it would appear that this forum is connected to a shredder machine.

This bonus is borderline useless. It took Gaijin SOO LONG to implement this and they managed to bork it anyway. They could just give a daily 15%rp booster for 5-10 matches and be done with it.

I just realised that “tank” bonus as the name suggest is for researching “tanks” not for playing the tank, so researching helis(definitely the hardest type of vehicle to grind) is not boosted. Also wtf does it mean “Rank difference VIII → VII”. Tier VIII can research tier VII with full efficiency, as it is stated in the stat card of Leclerc SXXI so why -10%? Also all modifications bonus didn’t applied for resarching heli. I PLAYED ONE BATTLE, and found 2 bugs? Gaijin pls.

Edit: Ok, i don’t have any top tier heli, so that’s why i don’t have heli bonus, but still i would like to have a choice if i want to use “tank” bonus for heli if i can research helis using tanks.

With such low R&D, War Thunder is not a competitive game anymore
