Knowing that this is a game, what could be the reason for the existence of such a foggy map? Why would they add a map to the game that has no line of sight? What could be the fun of crashing into a mountain after spending 10 minutes playing the game? Can someone please give a logical explanation?
Lets pause war, weather bad.
Exactly, sometimes the weather, Its Filthy.
(sorry couldn’t resist)
On a more serious note: Yes, on some maps, in some situations, weather really is an unforgiving factor, with players having almost no chance to work around it (Afghanistan…).
IRL there would be technical solutions for that (ILS, GCA, TAR) that we in WT sadly don’t have.
Allowed.
Honestly, do not think players complain about clouds when landing… Mainly when hitting ground targets in ground or trying to multipath in air. For air this thing called map and radar altitude already exists.
Not to mention that the map will actually show the major elevation differences in terrain. So maybe if there’s a giant mountain on the map don’t fly towards it into a cloud while clipping tree tops?
Sometimes people will just complain because they actually just want to play retextured call of duty
Well, I’ve been in matches, also recently, where there were clouds down to the runway in Afghanistan. Seeing your position on the map and a radar altimeter only help so far…
Btw, I grew up in Switzerland, flew sims in the Alps for ages, specializing also in GCA approaches both on the pilot as well as the operator side, and those conditions we often encounter in WT, especially on that map, are sometimes waaaay beyond GCA minimum, and we not having GCA in WT… ;-)
Pretty sure for runways specific a trigger to taper clouds on primary runway can be a easy thing to do… a “safe zone” per say but for clouds. Heck, if this was SQF I would code it for you right now XD
Who here has good luck with getting game suggestions posted and approved?
Well, the new runway design even shows lovely read and white painted GCA radars. Make them work like an ILS and we’re fine. ;-)
To be fair however, I like flying in Afghanistan, partially also because of the challenging weather: Sure, one has to be careful and mindful navigating the valleys in bad weather, but it’s also great to hide.
And recently I only had one case where I really aborted a mission after not being able to land anymore in the mountains.
Well, if I’m playing a game, why do I have to deal with this kind of real-life nonsense? Or why don’t we have an option to prevent this?
Oh yeah definitely agree that some instances of clouds on run ways is way excessive. But if you crash into the runway on take off because there’s a cloud over it you probably shouldn’t be in a plane anyway XD
at least fog can happen without wind, when there’s thunderstorms and no wind it’s weird.
They should have added wind before adding clouds.
You’re kidding, right?
This comment is funny because you typed it thinking you were so funny and clever but they literally do stop flying planes throughout most of history when you can’t see two feet in front of your jet. You are ignorant to how this works.
Nope, and then a gamemaster agreed with the insane take.
Except it often doesn’t, as I DO rely on the map for navigation when weather is awful and I can STILL hit mountains that are not shown on topography.
Bringing up something that has no relation to the topic because you need a quirky little quote at the end of your comment to try to equate anything you don’t like to call of duty.
So happy when humour is recognized and enjoyed.
Neither of the comments came off as humor to me.
You pissed off Mother Nature? ○
or maybe it’s just to give you a more challeging battle? Is everything in life supposed to be easy?
I am gonna assume you are only VFR rated and could not see the joke (crash). 1 hour more as PIC and you can get your IFR. Alternatively, if you read down a little bit more on a short thread you will see that I did suggest a cloud taper on primary runways.
The only thing I agree with here is The weather sucks when we spawn in Hills and can’t see them and crash, NGL is a bit silly on the Devs to put the spawn in the hills and give us zero visibility on the spawn.
