FnF Helicopters drastically ruining helicopter PVE

Just played another game of Heli PVE trying to grind out the PARS 3 modification on the EC-665 UHT for Germany; I’m currently stock with only 4 ATGMS, no air to air missiles, and no guns.

Take off from airfield and 2 minutes in immediately have Gepards spawn right underneath me killing me instantly. I respawn and try to head straight for the ground targets but a Mi-28NM and another AH-64E had killed them all before I could reach them again. I continue flying only for another set of Gepards to spawn underneath me but I manage to snag one Gepard and drop behind a hill so they can’t shoot me with terrain in the way but by the time I get enough distance from the ground targets they’ve all been taken out again.

The game ends in about 20 minutes with an AH-64E and Mi-28NM on our team getting around 50-70 ground kills and 30-40 air kills respectively with no deaths while I managed to get 7 kills and died 4 times just trying to get a single ground kill.

I could understand premium helicopters like the KA-50 playing this gamemode to grind the helicopter tech tree but these are AH-64E’s and Mi-28NM’s mopping up all the ground and air kills to themselves because LMURS and AGM-179 work surprisingly well as air to air missiles, there’s no reason to play this gamemode if you’ve already unlocked these weapons yet these players still choose to and it completely ruins the gamemode for stock helis

I’ve noticed they often also land on the capture point than fail to RTB to finish the task completely locking that objective out as well (although that’s not exclusively the F&F helies doing that, but it is extra annoying when they are also killing the entire map and preventing you from getting any points at all for the whole match)

It’s a real problem, I’ve grinded the Tiger HAD, hand haing HOT 3 and Rockets (Can we talk how hard it is to overpressure things in PvE ? Especially those little recoiless canon) And it is just impossible to get close : HOT-3 takes more than 20sec to reach over 4km, aka the SPAA range. Without talking about my pilot getting sniped by a single .50 from an M113 2,5km away, nor the bradleys that aim way too good.

Heli PVE is such a mess and has been ignored since no one plays it (because it sucks). I’d just try to rocket bases if u can since they give decent rp

Just play ground Pve with helicopters, way easier. anyway most of this is really just a skill issue, they most likely had to stock grind too and still performed better. I’ve been first plenty of times in heli pve, even without a non Fnf helicopter

2 of my 4 deaths were from me deciding to just J out to spawn close enough to snag 1-2 kills before the rest of it went to the AH-64s and Mi-28s. Also the AH-64 and Mi-28 both get better ATGMs stock with better range and speed than the HOT-3, can guide more than one ATGM at a time without having to wait for the first one to hit, actually have a gun to kill aircraft with, and have substantially better engines. Surly though this is a skill issue on my part

Heli PvE max team playercount really should be reduced to four, or objectives should spawn much more often and in higher numbers…

Otherwise, Gaijin should also really inform players somehow that 400 score every 10 minutes is all you need. I’ve been sure to watch my score and stop when I should in my own AH-64E, but I’ve seen others go up to 1500+ score in the first 10 minutes, stealing many objectives and targets from players who need them more…

I think helicopters are the most dispensable vehicles in the game because the amount of XP you get in GRB is completely absurd. You have to go to PvE to unlock the modules, and once you’ve unlocked them all, what incentive is there to keep using that helicopter in GRB?

I think the devs added helicopters just to have an excuse to add more premium vehicles to the game because their planning was a complete failure.

To play with it maybe? lol, with your logic you could say the same about the entire game

  • it’s better to grind in ground PvE, not helicopter PvE

But with other vehicles, you’re playing PvP, unlocking modules as you progress at a reasonable pace. With helicopters, however, if you want to unlock the modules in GRB, you need to play over 200 matches to unlock everything, so to do it faster you have to play that boring, poorly implemented PvE mode.

Your comment was about if a vehicle is spaded, not stock.
Maybe re-read your very own comment, and then come back to argue, helicopters are alot of fun act

No, I’m referring to the huge number of losses required to unlock the helicopter modules, and the fact that you need to play helicopter PvE to unlock the modules.

What’s this then?

And no, helicopter PvE is not required at all, and is just worse than ground PvE

They should lower the XP required to unlock modules, because in GRB helicopters are secondary vehicles that you generally can’t use at the beginning of a match, so they don’t spend as much time in combat as tanks. But unlike tanks, helicopters require a large number of matches just to unlock their modules.

For example, I still have several modules to unlock for the British Wasp, having played over 200 matches with it and completed all the tanks of its Battle Rating (BR). This means I would have to use higher-level tanks with the Wasp, which in turn would require me to use the next helicopter (which is of the same BR as the Wasp) in matches of a much higher BR, since I’m not going to play 500 matches with each BR 9.0 tank.

Logically, the unlocking of modules should progress at roughly the same speed. Instead, you’re not even getting half the XP you get with tanks.

Going by the lobbies, Heli PVE is at least as popular as Sim. Which, I know, isn’t saying much but its not “nobody”.

Yeah… I’ve spaded helos in less than a dozen PVE games, call it, 6 hours of game time. Esp. running boosters, the rewards in PVE are much greater than in GRB, where most stock helos are next to helpless.

Funnily enough when Gaijin got review bombed and promised roadmap reductions in RP and SL this was given to every vehicle type in game EXCEPT for helicopters; apparently they just forgot? I put out a bug report that they forgot to apply these changes to helicopters and I was just told to submit it as a suggestion (trash bin).

That’s an issue for players who DON’T want to have to play tanks to unlock helicopters faster. We want to use helicopters. It’s like having to play naval to unlock aircraft. We just need a dedicated helicopter mode that isn’t as bad as the current one. No one plays Heli PvE for several reasons (easily fixable btw):

  • Not enough targets for everyone
  • Unfair BR matchups
  • Several minutes go by with nothing to do
  • Aimbot SPAA
  • terrible rewards
  • Long match durations
  • repetitive objectives (when they actually decide to spawn)
  • Fly here. Click here.
  • Hasn’t really changed much in 4 years (They removed SPAA from bases, removed the ability to use wagers, and got rid of pillboxes. That’s it.)

i mean i would say “hurr hurr SkIlL iSuE” but to be honest im probably like one of the 3 people who are good at that mode even without the fnf missiles so i know how likely it is that anyone else could attain my elevels of skill… but i say that much that they definitely need to seperate helicopter with fnf missles unlocked vs helicopters without them unlocked. in general they need to overhault it bc its so broken. i feel you bro

You can play ground PvE with a reserve tank and a 13.0 helicopter but okay

Doesn’t even need an overhaul (which would be nice), they just need to decompress the BR brackets.
