Oh, we have a new event? And we have an average decal, a really cool decal, and one of, if not the best naval flag in the game! This is shaping up to be great. Let’s see what the prize is. Oh, that’s cool. It’s for coastal fleet, its rank 5, and its for Italy—a minor nation? I can’t wait to see what this is! It’s… it’s… it’s a copy-paste Albatross, goddammit.
In all seriousness, Flight of the Albratross is so close to being a great event. The “F 544” decal is fine, but the “Alcione” decal is absolutely awesome and the naval flag they’re giving away for it is, in my opinion, the single best naval flag in the game. And as for the vehicle, everything about it should make it great. Well, almost everything. It’s rank 5, it’s for a minor nation—Italy, and it is for coastal fleet which is way more fun than bluewater fleet. The issue is the vehicle itself. It’s a copy-paste Albatross. Not only is it copy-paste, it’s also a copy of a vehicle that isn’t very good. They had options too for actually unique prizes. There’s the Pietre de Cristofaro-class, the Condottieri-class, and the Bergamini-class just to name a few, and those are just some of the options for Italy. I understand that there is value in having prizes similar to tech tree vehicles so people who can’t do the event don’t miss out. Not every event vehicle needs to be extremely unique. However, since the new event cycle started, the only non-copy-paste vehicles we have had are the Object 292 and the ostensibly unique Churchill AVRE. That is really disappointing and this was a great chance to fix it, but instead we were given a fully copy-paste vehicle. This isn’t even like the Jaguar IS which has some functional differences. This is functionally entirely identical.
