So this would be the current Gepard 1A2 minus the Stingers (so at a lower BR)?
And if they had added the proper ammo for it (full FAPDS-T belts)
+1 between the base Gepard and the current in-game Gepard 1A2. FAPDS, a laser rangefinder, and NVD would make it unique enough to stand on its own, while filling a slight gap in Germany’s AA line.
+1, would be much better than the “1A2” we have now.
Renewed the images since they were broken.
It’s pretty much the same vehicle but no stingers. It would have the FAPDS-T rounds though (which the in-game one should also get tbh).
The new ammo is what I want tbh, so you can also take out incoming missiles.
But lets be honest here, gaijin wont add them cuz fake reason XYZ.
Old ass post yes, but the 2s38 is an anti air platform. it’s just no player in the game has ever used it for that role.
U apparantly never played against 2s38.
Its massively uswd as anti air.
Specialy decimates helis but works against close flying planes as well
+1! This one is badly needed, as the prototype we currently have is lacking in some regards, having more of the Gepard would be great and would allow more decompression whilst still having viable spaa.
The Netherlands were also very involved with the prototype and the current 1A2 production, using the PRTL CA1 GWI variant instead:
+1 Gepards are cool
Some stuff on 35x228 FAPDS:
(FAPDS round with early sabot)
DM 23 APDS-T for comparison:
Serviced Round FAPDS round (DM 33):

Fragmentation distribution of FAP and FAPDS ammunition:
Training-Film for the NVD/KWS to Gepard 1 A2:
Timestamped with section relevant to FAPDS.
Note: DM 18 A1 is misidentified as “DM 31”
DM 31 would be HE-T (base fuzed HE w/ incendiary mixture filled nose cap, tracer and 46g main charge)
Rounds shown are: (L->R)
DM 33 FAPDS, DM 21 HEI, DM 13 A1 APHEI-T, DM 18 A1 TP-T, DM 23 APDS-T
The early FAPDS round (first image) had a MV of 1400m/s, the brochure its’ shown in is from ~1990.
The serviced FAPDS round features a slightly different sabot than the earlier one and has a higher muzzle-velocity of 1440m/s (figure from 1994 brochure; pictures above and confirmed by the training-film)
Note:
There are a ton of contradicting sources regarding DM 33’s muzzle velocity. As of now, I cannot say which (1400m/s or 1440m/s) MV figure is accurate.
The Gepard that got the stingers was a 1A2.
These upgrades should just be given to the vehicle we have in-game. I’d be fine if that uptiered it to 10.0, since the ozelot is already there at 9.7.
Having programmable ammo for it would be great.
No gepard ever had the capability to use programmable ammunition.
FAPDS is missing, but thats another type once again
I have photos from Polish airshow with romanian gepard featuring a muzzle break identical to the one on PUMA. I know about standard muzzle that measures speed and does not programe but this one is different.
Gepard (Velocity measurement note the spiky ends):
Gepard “new”(?) muzzle:

Puma programable muzzle:

looks very similar to me
thery are totaly different things,
The new muzzle attachement on the gepard 1a2 is for calculating the lead for the new FAPDS ammunition
U are completly wrong here. Its a myth that has been destroyed multiple times and a wrong assumptions of people that arent knowledgeable in the area
The pictures of Gepard depict V0 measuring units/coils, which were upgraded within its’ lifetime to increase durability and the range of measurable velocities (<= 1500m/s for Gepard 1 A2)
They are however not programming coils.
The Muzzle-Programmer includes BOTH the muzzle-velocity measuring coils (1-2) and a third, larger coil for programming the fuze:
Looking at the Oerlikon 35mm Automatic Cannon Type KDA’s coils (as used by Gepard):
And as for Gepard 1 A2:
Thanks for correting my mistake but i have a question.
new muzzle attachement on the gepard 1a2 is for calculating the lead for the new FAPDS ammunition
Are the “spiky” units newer or the “flat” ones?
Which one was the FAPDS upgrade?
