The current heli grind is terrible. It’s slow and unrewarding for newer players compared to top tier helis.
- Helis cost way too much to grind. Rank 5 helis cost maybe 180k to grind but at rank 6 it drastically increases to almost 400k just for a rank 6. Even with the option to grind with ground forces it’s extremely slow.
- Heli PVE is a mess. Ai enemies are bugged sometimes, rewards are lackluster, maps are too large and games are too long. Example, played a game which lasted an hour (pretty good compared to normally lasting way longer) got 4th place and guess how much RP I got… 5k RP. This is absolutely terrible. If I’m playing for an hour I expect at least 15k minimum (granted without premium or boosters) and this was this a team that was actually competent unlike usual.
- The stock grind. Stock grinding a heli is a nightmare. Firstly ground RB is almost out of the question as rocket rushing will maybe get 1 kill but at around 10.0 you better hope Russia is on you side cause if you get too close you’re gonna get out the sky by a 2s38 or some ocelot camping in some bush. Heli pve as mention is also pretty bad with lack luster RP and only having access to rockets makes it worse
- Some helis are just outshine by others. Using heli PVE an another example. At 9.3 brackets, it’s completely dominated by mi24a’s. It’s has 6 pylons while other helis has 2-4 max, can carry 128 rockets with a full ballistic computer for bombs and rockets while having atgms outranging it’s competition at 4km. The z9w, same br in arcade, has atgms with 3km range and only 2 pylons and I’m assuming russian helis also dominate the other tiers as well.
- Identical helis to grind. This doesn’t apply to all nations but for nations that do it’s really annoying. Examples like France and Germany, they have to grind the same heli twice with little to no difference in between just to make it longer and unrewarding.
These are just some of the issues with the current helicopter grind but I have some ideas to fix it. - Revamp heli PVE entirely. Make it so instead of EC maps, just use air rb maps instead like city. Make games smaller and more rewarding and have Ai scattered around like air rb with the occasional convoys
- Fold helis together nobody likes having to research 350k rp for a heli with no difference between the previous heli.
- (Controversial) add modules that determine BRs. Example is the z9w. At 10.0 it’s an ok plane with its TY90s. HOWEVER, when it’s completely stock it’s a pain in the ass to play having only 3km range atgms at 10.0 ISNT fun or good especially when the “upgrade” atgm doesn’t increase its range either and similar BR helis get access to variations of the helfire or more atgms with longer ranges
- Reduce the amount of RP needed to research a helicopter and it’s modules
- Allow the use of aviation to grind helicopters. Planes are generally faster so a bit of a reduction on rp would be ok. Like a reduction of 20% or something similar.
These are just some ideas to fix the heli grind. Yes helis are annoying to deal with but it isn’t far when 99% of players are locked away playing these awesome vehicles and the only people able to play them are youtubers, veterans or wallet warriors
