wait what, this is still not implemented??
Nope, and it likely never will be.
It should but they don’t care and like @MythicPi said, I don’t think it will ever be implemented. Only if we had many more jets with the same feature, especially if those happened to be russian.
Would be cool but to be honest it’s not a feature that would make much of an impact within the game. The F-14 suffers more by having a gimped radar and bad loadout (except the IRAF one). Radar should be way better than it is and the Phoenixes too.
Are you implying that Gaijin would care about the technology being modelled in game if it was Russian or that if more nations planes had it, they would care more?
There are technically 3 new jets with the function now, the British and Italian Eurofighters PIRATE could do the same (IIR based instead of directly TV based though), and the Rafale as well with its TV sensor in the nose, as well as potentially its IRST (not sure if its IIR or not.
So now instead of impacting 1 fighter, it impacts 4 in-game. Wouldnt be suprised if the Rafale and Typhoons all got it working and the F-14B got cucked tho, the devs seem to have some sort of weird intense hatred for the plane and everything about it.
Yes
Those were added recently and still have lots of issues. Maybe when F35’s get added the F-14 can get that feature
Given Russian planes missing their targeting pods and munitions as well, I don’t think Gaijin would care especially if they consider the technology to be too powerful.
Targeting pods already exist in the game for a long time, that’s just their decision on what planes have it or not, but that’s more related to what capabilities one plane should have at their BR. Like the F-16 MLU could have amraams but in-game it doesn’t and in my opinion for that specific case, it works better that way because it’s a better 12.7 platform than 13.7.
The tracking camera from the F-14b being able to be paired to the radar and vice versa isn’t a game-changing thing, especially since it already has a good RWR to identify radar sources iirc
Not to mention it’s not detachable. It’s an integral, set-in-stone part of the airframe. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be working as intended.
Yes exactly. On the other hand yak141… I’m looking at you… (my highest performing 12.7 btw)
It’s the one thing that could save the F-4E and have it become the ultimate fighter, even without a PD radar. Could even get it’s late cold war weaponry and longer range sparrows.
Yet, here we are…
