HVAP currently is complete garbage as well as APDS, HEAT, and AP. But the others are still better. HVAP on the other hand is unusable. I was playing 8.0 with my R3 T20 I ran into a Panzerhaubitze 2000 nonpenned the front of the turret and it wasnt angled that much not a single round penned they all said SHELL SHATTER. Only about 30-40 rounds in my 20mm belt ever actually pen anything ever. Also APDS is garbage i shell shattered on the side on the of a XM246 with the 105mm italian M47. Please Gaijin fix HVAP, HEAT, AP, and APDS.

That happened quite a while ago i think the replay is gone by now but i dont remember the XM246 being angled
Even standard AP would be fine. Soviet 14.5mm mows down vehicles left and right with AP (I know you’re joking about the APFSDS… hopefully)
APDS is fine. Why do you think people moan about Falcon and the other autocannon APDS slingers? Yeah, sometimes the larger caliber APDS can not give you the results you want (yes, it is no APHE, which is overperforming), but it is in no way as bad as the whole HVAP situation.
Also, XM246 is just highly survivable I’ve found. Might even be bugged - might be by design.
APDS would be fine if it didn’t have shell shatter. Pen itself is fine.
XM246 i’m convinced is bugged. It has 5mm armor around its ammo racks, but that armor seems to defeat entire Apfsds rounds and almost all aphe shrapnel. The thing is way too survivable for the numbers we see, even when you know where to shoot.
Last night I had one eat a 130mm APHE from my Object279 and then proceed to kill me frontally by spamming my commanders hatch. Was a rage inducing moment. USA eating good with XM800T and XM246 duo.

Shatter mechanic is garbage and applies when it shouldn’t.
Post-pen damage is extremely poor compared to what it should be.
Angled pen is also wrong.
Saying APDS is fine is a clinically insane take.

Then I’m insane because when it is a choice between APDS and HEAT-FS, I only use APDS.
HEAT-FS has its own issues regarding post-pen reliability, and unlike APDS you can’t just fire it through obstacles - Which gives it an additional limitation that is situational at best, and at worst gets you killed - Especially in urban fights.

Both of those are very strange shells in game like HEAT can overpressure my OF-40 from the barrel somehow (this has happened many times now) and APDS can randomly just evaporate my entire crew but other times if they shoot that same area no damage. Also i have seen the message SHELL SHATTER on the Leopard 1 turret face to many times.
