Fireworks Decoration

I love watching videos of ongoing conflicts where both sides spawn in and capture points then respawn once they die.
War thunder is not a ‘realistic’ game as far as gameplay & mechanics, so why are we treating it like one.

If people want the diehard milsim experience feel free to head over to Arma or Squad

Maybe they shouldn’t market as the most realistic online game then huh

It’s distracting and annoying and has no place in the game. It was a novelty item whose gimmick has worn off, and it’s now just a distraction.

Nobody is asking for you to have it forced off, we are asking to not have it forced on us. Because some of us do find it highly distracting and annoying.

Let’s take that a step further using your argument, 7.7 machine guns should be removed from tanks. There’s no infantry and it’s just a distracting gimmick. ;)

Not my view, but your argument is easily used against you because it’s founded on being a novelty and gimmick, which 7.7 machine guns have been for over 10 years now.

What are you talking about?

“Realistic Military Vehicles”

Bringing me onto the sequel to that last post, if you noticed how I said they never claim the gameplay itself to be in any way accurate or realistic.

Gaijin markets War Thunder as an accessible platform to unlock and play ‘Realistic’ Vehicles in various accurate, and fictional maps & modes.

The actual damage modelling and attention to detail is fairly high standard, and where a bulk of the marketing is focused, only seconded by certain "historical’ locations based on real battles.

Just to clarify, Gaijin has never stated that WT is a milsim, or attempting in any way to depict real warfare, so a little firework launcher isn’t going to ‘break immersion’ if you’re playing 3 cap domination on alaska against non-historical matchmade teams.

I feel the argument about realism is a bit of a joke. There are many things about this game that would argue against that. Especially when we start talking about balancing. Now if it was a remove for sim battles sure. But there is hardly anything realistic about RB.

Yeah, I just want distracting cosmetics off. It’s that too much to ask?

You can turn all the anime stuff off except the PFPs in the “kill card”. And the anime tanks do not scream “ONIICHAN” when you shoot them… yet.

Gameplay is inherently going to be realistic because the game itself is realistic, and there’s no such thing as an unrealistic battle.

What will be unrealistic is physics in arcade game modes.

Milsims are usually unrealistic because their physics are arcadey, and gunplay is like a child is using the rifle.

It’s the start of 2026 I’m sure it tanks will be saying senpai by the end of the year.

Ahhh so war thunder does a better job at actually simulating (giving you the closest experience to a real tanker/pilot) than games like Arma or DCS, gotcha

Arma yes, Arma 3 was built in 2011 and was made for potato hardware, and it was built from a training tool which doesn’t need realism outside communications. Arma 3 was surpassed in realism by shooters as a whole by 2017.
DCS trades blows with War Thunder every year or so.
War Thunder has always been a direct competitor to DCS, and has done a better job bringing people in because of that accessibility.

Jesus Christ, a stupid firework decoration has sparked a discussion about milsim and realism, this place man. Just put the damn thing in the fictional decoration and be done with it. Nobody should have this annoying decoration shoved down their throats.

Great way to skirt the question.
However you’ve agreed that WT doesn’t do as good a job as either of those at providing the most accurate experience possible in a publically available video game.
Thanks for your contribution 👍.

Arma 3 isn’t realistic and has never been, but you can keep believing whatever fictions you want.

Feel free to define your ideal characteristics for a ‘realistic’ military game in relation to armoured/aerial combat

Physics and gunplay primarily dictate realism.

Tactics, clothing/skins/camos, etc have nothing to do with realism and instead has to do with history/preference.

There are a few videos out there discussing the difference between historical reenacting and realism.

You also ignored the ‘most realistic online game’, which entails more than just vehicle models being realistic.

Like I stated previously, allow people to turn off the SoundFX for it and keep the visual. Its a good medium ground. You can still see it without the annoying sound.
