Some of youj may have noticed that its possible to burn more than 2 times which is and sounds realistic maybe? But for a game it makes no sense.
Think of this cenario: You are driving around and somebody shots your engine. He is not able to kill any of your crew but he sprayes your engine room full with shells and you start burning once… twice… and you start burning a third time, but wait a min. I only have 2 fire extinguisher and my team is not close to help me… Damn I’m cooked like FR. That is just not a good gameplay having somebody spraying your engine and you burn down because of only 2 fire extinguisher. It may be not realistic when you only burn twice and same with the stockgrind having only 1 of them sucks.
But I’m also wondering why my fuel starts burning when it gets shot with a solid shot like APFSDS. Why does it burn. If you now that pls tell me…
The unrealistic thing is that your crew can magically put out a fire from within the vehicle.
If you don’t want to get burned out, don’t expose your engine.
As for APFSDS causing fire, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be able to. Hitting ammo with APFSDS causes it to explode, too.
There is a big different between fuel and gunpowder. Fuel takes way more energy to start burning. Thats what I heard.
You should have been around when you had zero fire extinguishers stock and you would just burn up until you unlocked it. Fun times.
Its a game mechanic/strategy thing. Its a way of disabling an enemy tank and forcing the player to decide to stop and put the fire out or accept the increasing damage to keep fighting.
IRL fire is a serious thing and even a small fire can become catastrophic if not put out. Many modern AFVs only have 2 fire extinguishers systems. A built in “automatic” ones in the crew and fighting compartment and then a “2nd shot” and some handheld extinguishers. Most older tanks had only some small handheld ones or none at all.
AT rounds create so much energy on impact that they will melt and ignite almunium-alloy whindshields, used for adding additional incendiary effect for shells.
So they are hot enough to easily ignite fuel, particular when a high kinetic round passes through the fuel and disperses it with the air.
Engine and transmission oil will also catch fire after an AP rounds just welded itself into the metal.
I played to this times where we had none of them stock. Still spraying the engine room has nothing to do with skill and it feels just bad to die to this
I’m sure most people who burn to death feel the same way.
In reality even a small fire can cause the crew to bail out.In WW2 toxic gas from post pen was a major cause of crews exiting the vehicle.
You are in a very confined space as it is and not everybody is overjoyed to be there at the best of times.Think about the other player firing at you.How many times do they want to see you recover? We already have tank crews repairing fuel tanks numerous times before a tank finally dies.
Don’t just view the game from your own perspective all the time.
So you don’t like to die. None of us do. Guess we can put this in the skill issue box.
The kinetic energy in a tank round impacting is more than enough to set pretty much anything on fire. Even metal, so something flameable like fuel will of cause ignite.
Somebody already told me that. Thanks!

So you are saying you can give it out but can’t take it? What is your point? A tank full of fire extinguishers?
Tbh I forgot what I wanted to write while writing XD
: ) lol I found myself putting the car keys in the fridge yesterday…what can I say .
Shit happens XD
