Finnish voiceline is wrong when the commander says “Maali tuhottu” it literally means “Paint destroyed”, the real translation should be “Kohde tuhottu”.
Maali has multiple meanings depending on context. It can mean target/goal like it does in this case

It is 100% correct what they say. Maali can mean target, Maalitaulu would be “target board”.
Maali has lots of meaning is Finnish language from like you said paint. But can mean target, goal and finishing line
There are things that would be nice if they were changed. Example crews can identify certain tanks, so it would be nice if T-34 was changed to “Sotka” Finnish nickname for T-34.
Also it is somewhat funny hearing WW2 Finnish crews using NATO alphabet and not the Finnish versions.

No, maali does in some context mean Target but it doesn’t mean it in a “Target” way it sounds so wrong for finnish speakers
I am Finnish speaker and to me it sound 100% correct.
Yes more accurate would be that crew would specific what got destroyed.
But Gaijin wants to use just generic term and for that Maali or Kohde are both as good.
As others have mentioned, maali tuhottu and kohde tuhottu technically carry the same meaning.
However, I do partially agree with you, because I think there’s a sublte semantic difference between maali tuhottu and kohde tuhottu. Maali tuhottu sounds like something you’d hear in a training drill, whereas kohde tuhottu sounds like something you’d hear in real action, which is why hearing maali tuhottu sometimes doesn’t feel quite right to my native ears :D
